If GOG is going to be rolling out new games they are going to have to figure out a better way of rolling out patches. A manual optional patch as a separate download would be a good solution.

Except its not GOG's fault, it's the way the game was made. The developers said they will probably be fixing this for incremental patches sometime in the future I believe.

Never.. ever.. ever just install on top of a program unless you are instructed specifically to do so or you can get orphaned files or bad reccords.
Seriously. This is what we in the IT bus' call a bad user habit. Neither the Devs or GoG are ultimately 'at fault' as its a basic understanding that when reinstalling a program you should mimic the install procedure, as in the program should not already be present just like when you first installed. Thus RE-Install not 'Update'.
Granted the argument can go the other way in terms of providing a seamless user experience, but that is icing on the cake, never a given.
Not trying to be cynical, but a little distrust can help allot with computers.
Also, I do agree though that an actual 'Patch' should be provided at least for a limited time. There is allot that goes into hosting these files so I understand not wanting to burden the CDN with tons of patch files, but having a small patch available at least for a short time might be nice for those on limited connections before replacing it with the latest full build.

Let's put it this way:
Gog.com is now going to sell new games.
New games need a lot more patching than old games, because they're being worked on currently.
Downloading the entire game for each patch is going to get very old.
Therefore, gog.com should figure out how to deliver patches if they want to provide a competitive user experience.
Now, I'm not saying I won't buy gog titles, but I would like more people to buy more gog titles, and this is going to become a quality of experience issue.

I refuse to patch this game until the maker and GOG release a normal patch file, which patches older versions.
This is how they should do it
#1 always offer the most up to date version for an original downlaod, list patches available, direct from their site and which versions the patch can/should be applied to. That is the most GOG can do though. They need the makers to release the patches for them and create the functionality.
I dont think GOG is doing anything wrong though right now, they are offering the most uptodate version of the game and they ahven't been given a patch file, but just a new game right? We need a patch file/program to fix teh existing installation of the game. I guess donw the road (like 6 months) afte the game has been heavily patched and improved I might be willing to do a complete reinstall. but not now, seems too silly.

Well, for today's situation, the only one who loses from this is yourself, in the sense that you don't get some bugs fixed, etc. Although they probably aren't a huge deal for you.
