fe79: That is correct. Health is always restored first. Similarly, stamina is always reduced first.

Resting in the field can restore all health and some stamina, unless a character is sick/poisoned/starving.
Thanks for the confirmation!

gnarbrag: yeah, but that's very unlikely to happen because when you take damage, it's subtracted from your health first. I've seen it happen when my health and stamina improved while sleeping outdoors.

Waltorious: You mean it's subtracted from stamina first. I know that. But, for example when casting lots of spells (which drains stamina and health) I would sometimes end up with reduced health for some characters. I thought that when resting outdoors, their health would slowly heal, and once it was full, their stamina would heal, but it wouldn't heal all the way since I was resting outdoors.

Is that wrong? Would their health only heal up to 80% of max, and then their stamina would start to heal, again only to 80% of max? That seems really punishing since health damage reduces stats, and inns are rare. I thought they could heal injuries to health but not all of their stamina, only an inn could make them "well rested" enough to have a full stamina pool.

Can someone confirm this behavior?
yeah, silly me. Damage is subtracted from your stamina first ofc.

when resting, health heals up to 100% first before you start healing stamina
So, Ok....i started yesterday a new run.

One of my Charakters is : Near Death

What is yet the possible way?

a) To farm Gold from difficult battles with two Pary Members? (For the Temple or INN)

or

b) You can explain me how i rest in the Fields to get away the near Death status?

I you want to heal near-death by resting, you'll need to lower the near-death percentage.
you can use restoratives to instantly lower the %
when you rest, always have a herbal pack active. this will slowly reduce the percentage
if you rest without using a herbal pack you risk the status getting worse
Thank You gnarbrag!

I used Hearbal-Packs, but the status keeps on Near Death.

Another Issue for me is the Casting Failure from Owyn. I set Owyn in Battles in Distance to cast a spell, but
the Casting Symbol do not appear. I think the Distance is not wide enough, but thats will pass every attempt.

Is that possible that a Copy Protection mechanism cause such Issues?

One Thing that i forgotten to, was to aktivated the Skill-Boxes from each Charakter.

There is a book you can find somewhere in the game that explains how to cure Near Death status. You MUST go to an inn, it's impossible to cure it by resting outdoors. I think you need several herbal packs and must rest for something like three days in order to cure it.

Owyn can't cast if enemies are next to him, but when he's isolated he should be able to cast. But I don't think he can cast and move in the same turn. So if enemies keep chasing him down, all he can do is run away. If he starts his turn with no enemies next to him, he should be able to cast. This is definitely not a copy protection issue, there is no copy protection in the GOG version of the game.

That's not a huge problem. Selecting skills simply tells characters to focus on specific skills and ignore others. But you really don't need to min-max skills in the game in order to do fine. But it can be fun to fine-tune the skills. I recommend having someone train lockpicking and someone train barding, as they're both useful and fun. Other than that, obviously you can have Owyn train his magic, and your fighters train their fighting skills and/or bows.
Hello Waltorious,

i have the Things done that you adviced me.

The Party have full Health and Stamina. Full Stamina by Inn in LaMot.

Yes, it is! Glad you're enjoying the game.
Herbal packs do not provide any immediate help, but they provide a "healing" status which, as long as it is active, reduces all other negative statuses like "near-death", "poisoned" etc. (except for "starving" of course).
Problem is that one herbal pack doesnt last long enough to counter a full illness (like 100% near-death). So make sure that you have enough "healing" % before resting, otherwise it can happen that it runs out during the resting and the negative effect will get worse again.
