I don't know if I'm the only one having a problem with this, but here goes.
The game runs fine, the sound is good, and the video is great...but whenever I click on save or restore, the game crashes. Has anyone else had this problem?
This question / problem has been solved by Paczykimage
XP mode works for me, but I can't change the resolution to 640x480, and there is a lot of screen tearing for some odd reason. It's playable, but I would really like a fix to this.
It's strange for me because when I do it, my desktop changes to the 640 by 480 resolution... and then that's it. BIT doesn't show up on the taskbar or anything, but it DOES show up in the task manager and killing it from there restores the desktop to its normal resolution. I don't get what the hell's up with it.
Hi guys!
Sorry for not replying sooner.
This seems to be a mainly Windows 7-related issue and we don't support this OS yet.
However, we are working on it. We still don't know what the exact cause of this might be, therefore I have no ETA on when it will be done.
At this time I can only ask for your patience.

Lafazar: Okay, here is the output from process explorer:
I bolded the "Common Dialog Box Libraries"
(Wikipedia: Provides applications the standard dialog boxes for opening and saving files, choosing color and font, etc. The library resides in a file called commdlg.dll on 16-bit Windows, and comdlg32.dll on 32-bit Windows. It is grouped under the User Interface category of the API.)

loblaw: Good legwork on that! Sadly, we should all have the commdlg.dll file; I know I do, and alas, nothing. BIT, what are you doing?!

I don't, have it, at least not in C:\Windows. You may not have the same issue as the rest of us, or there could just be a total misspelling in the code. Is the GOG.com version patched to the latest version of BiT? There's a 1.4 patch out there, I believe. Or was it 1.2? Not sure. Anyhow, if someone can try that, please do so. Find that patch. Install it. See if the game works.

Ah! A response at last! Thanks for looking into it, at least. Please take our theories into account, GOG!

At least you are working on it. :D But I thought that this is also happening on Vista....?
Sigh. I wish I knew about this when I bought the thing!
Also, it strikes me a bit odd that win7 isn't supported....

GOG doesn't officially support Win7 on any game on the site, but generally they do work. (You'll note that they advertise XP/Vista compatibility, but not 7.)

Yes well I did mean in general.
Going on a week and 3 days here. The game is just unplayable without the ability to save progress.
Yes, acknowledgement of the problem is good and all, but we have all payed for a game that we can't play because of an unfortunate oversight. This save game bug cripples your ability to get anywhere unless you wanna play the whole game through in one sitting. For an arcade game this could be an option, but this is an adventure game. Even the instruction manual says in bold: SAVE OFTEN!
So, what has been done so far to investigate this problem, which is just not relegated to Win 7 users, but Vista and XP users as well?
I am having the same problem. I am running Win 7 and using the icon compatibility from the icon (Win 95). Also I have UAC turned off. Nothing works.

It does seem to be happening on some Vista machines as well, including mine (and a number of other users' in this thread), though. The word "mainly" may be valid, but still!

Sorry, I misspelled it in my post, actually - it's "comdlg", with one m, not two; for me there's a copy in my C:\WINDOWS\System32 directory and a few other copies floating around randomly.

comdlg32.dll is located here on Windows Vista (64 bit):
C:\Windows\syswow64\comdlg32.dll
I am pretty sure the GOG version is the latest one.

It will be...they have to play through 200+ games in the middle of all their other work so..it will take time. Thankfully yeah most games work fine in the meantime..I think that's a reason it's not top priority.
