JA:BIA is not really such a good thing since 1) They've completely ditched Turn Based combat in favor of Real Time With Pause and 2) Have you seen the portraits of the mercs in the E3 gameplay video?
While it may be a good game, and I do hope it is, the old JA fans are really enraged with the changes that have happened so far.

no its more like they dont want to satifice 10000 fans no they want to attract people who dont care about the franchise.

Yeah. That's why You should not let PRs run a publishing company.
Anyhow, this'll blow.;/

the problem is people who dont care still dont care and the people who cares wont buy it and that how kills franchises. I noticed a lot of old developers also have trouble with this generation making games. The question is what is harder programming a game with limitid resource or where the sky is the limit?

Well, i was wondering, why didn't they go indie,(devs with old franchises), instread of insisting on being the turn under the shoe of a big publisher. But no, let's stay, and try to 'eat the cake, and still have the cake'.
Hardest programming? Writing a game under a eff'd up publisher or licensing a franchise to morons who don't know what it's about. Those two are the worst i could think of.
The two You write depend on the dev's, some can handle a lot of money, some go berserk. You know, like lottery winners, some invest, some buy hookers and party for a week.

Anyhow, is there a way for this Jagged NOT to flop?

True.:)
I wonder why couldn't Paradox take over. They have a history with demanding games, like EU's.Sure, they are buggy at release, but the fans don't mind. They're solid, and their releases seem quite independent.

After so many years, the best thing one can do, is make a "for the fans" game. The battle for a S**tload Of Sales is lost, the game is too old and too demanding for the modern lazy gamer. Cutting the loses and making a game for a smaller audience is the best move. Anything different is suicidal, fans won't touch it, and it leaves the devs with very poor sales.

And i'm surprised i'm seeing this scenario playing over and over and over with the same outcome.
the problem with old games and game these days is the budget, money what is spend on creating is huge these days and those investers want to see there money they spend doubled or trippeled Its not something that is made in someones basement if you make a game what is made for those 1000 fans you wont make profit games arent underground now its a big as hollywood that is something we have to live with it.

Well, making games is not sure business, Jon Hare put it real nice in the new episode of Matt Chat.If someone wants sure money, he should sell toilet paper, not making games.
I'm sure theres more than a 1000 JA fans out there. The thing is, You don't need a big budget to make a good game, sell it, and make it all worthwhile. Believe me, no need to go triple-A on Jagged Alliance.
Actually, Jon Hare's interview really fits this discussion we're having.
There we go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz1zOO0oz2I

The biggest problem with JA, is that the franchise is in debt. There were so many attempts, and money already poured into those projects. The new titles are expected to pay that debt i guess, at least, that's how i see the plan of releasing JA:BiA, JA: Online and JA3 one after the other.

I fear, this will be another episode of Hired Guns: New Jagged Embarassment.
I'm not understanding the hate here. From the look of the trailer video there, and the dev diary, it sounds like they're trying to build up a decent remake of the original game, features mostly in tact, and the spirit of the game unchanged. Ok, so it's not turn based. I suspect the original wouldn't have been if they had the choice. UFO made the transistion pretty well, and JA's combat system was blatantly inspired by UFO.

I'm looking forward to it. It looks like they've put a lot of work into it, while trying to keep the original's feel. Certainly doesn't look like a sell out.
