This game looks interesting (seems similar to the 3D platforming Ys games), but WineHQ's page reports that, as of 2007, the game does not work in WINE.

Does the game work in WINE these days, or has the situation not changed?

I'll check when I get home from work today :)

Works out of the box in Wine 1.7.53. Install game, install patch, run "wine gurumin.exe" in terminal and you're good to go :)

I'd wager this game is a platinum title :)

Thank you for testing. It's definitely appreciated.

Where?

JudasIscariot: Screenshot is still in the queue for whatever reason. Here is what I submitted, though
o___0 Guess it could be a different queue? You ever submit an Elminage Gothic screenshot? I haven't quite made an AppDB account yet, but I'm getting closer.

I was going to but seeing as how my Gurumin screenshot has been waiting since the 10th ( I can provide a screen of my queue if needed :P) I am not sure if it's worth the bother :/
Just played through the game, and it crashes at the end before a clear save can be made.

WINE version 1.55, Gurumin version 1.4

The rest of the game plays fine, except for crashes when I was trying to use the Magic Jar.

1.55? Any difference with 1.7 or 1.8?

The version is actually wine-1.7.55.

I am waiting for 1.8 to show up in Debian Sid before I try it, as I don't feel like trying to compile WINE myself.

Maybe I'll try it on my wine-1.6.2 install where some winetricks have been installed and see what happens, but there are an annoyingly large amount of unskipable cutscenes between loading the game and reaching the point where it crashes. (I've used that install for many other games, including my 90+ hour playthrough of Elminage Gothic, in which I explored the 6th floor of the final postgame dungeon.)

Don't use WINE use CrossOver program to run Windows apps on MAC OSX without WINE emulation.

I have actually completed the game on multiple difficulties at this point, using WINE.

In particular, the ending crash, which was not a WINE specific bug (it was reported by people playing the game in real Windows), turned out to be a case of a couple files missing from the GOG build; it has since been rectified.

(It did take many years, along with somebody posting a link to download the missing files and someone to bring it to Mastiff's attention, for the bug to finally be fixed, but it's fixed now, and the game can be completed and New Game + started.)

Also:
* CrossOver is based on WINE, and therefore it is still running under WINE "emulation".
* I don't have a Mac OS computer, as I am using Linux.

Now, if only they would fix that one Xanadu game that has major graphical glitches under WINE I would be happy.
