After a week of these "one day/one e-mail" attempts to solve the issue I got fed up with waiting for GoG's technical staff and asked for the game to be deleted from my account and to receive a 5.99$ cupon with which I could choose a different game.

The reply came one day later (obviously) from a different staff employee who explained that it was impossible to test all third party applications and find out which affects the game and that they have tried further tests and I was asked to play the game on the newly created account (which does not have all the customly-selected options and programs that my main account does).

As for the problem, and I quote: "We will contact you if and when we find the exact cause of the problem."

So yeah, just goes to show, always double-check before buying anything from anyone. I will refrain from buying any more GoG titles from now on until I have tested a demo of the game on my PC or until GoG creates a trial option.

I wrote them another e-mail afterwards( mostly repeating myself but hey, sometimes you have to) which they have ignored so far.

All I have to say is: -rep.

So... Did that work or what?
As written in a previous post of mine, in this thread, yes, it worked, but this is not a solution, this is a workaround.

And what do you expect them to do? Promise that they will steal the source code (if it even exists) and make the game work with whatever junk you normally run on your system? If the game simply works on a fresh user account, it means that something is borked with your regular account's settings or some software you've got installed there. Your problem. Not theirs.

This is a typical PEBKAC. Suck it up, take it like a man and enjoy your game instead of being a beggar... Users these days...
Troll much?

I'm sorry, you seem to have me confused for somebody who's getting these games for free or who is still living on his parent's credit card to not care for useless spendings.

Funny thing you mentioned "users" because, while you may be a user and thus feel it's a privilege to give a company your money, I am a customer and when I buy something, I expect it to work.

If not, I expect a big, obvious sign saying "WARNING: This product is known to have X, Y, Z issues regarding A, B, C OS/3rd party software". Why big and obvious? Because when I come home from work the last thing I want is to start hunting on some forums for "possible known issues", especially on my money's worth. I don't download them off some torrents and then complain about them.

Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do but shake my fist in anger at GoG and be extra cautious of my purchases in the future, however don't tell me to "Suck it up" on my own money. When I pay, I expect entertainment. When it doesn't work, I expect solutions, that's why I -PAY-. That's why GoG's charging for these games and that's why they have a Technical Support Staff hired. Or do you think they donate the money to disabled pixies?

And no, closing the "junk" I normally run is not a solution, it's a workaround. That "junk" is my own business and when I'm a customer and I run my own business in the background without a preliminary warning regarding that business, the first thing I want is a solution. And I am aware that a solution means finding out what program causes the problem and shut it down/temper with the settings, but THIS WAS NOT THE CASE.

Also, fun fact: This so-called "solution" did not work for Voight-Kampff, which I did not want to bring into this discussion (for he might not want to be added), but apparently reading previous posts is hard.

Cool talk.
Well, i think nvali is well within his rights to be upset. We are costumers, and the product should work as expected. The thing is, for me with GOG, expected is "better then NOT, but not always well".

I would like to see a short video of your mouse acting up though (that sounded weird), nvali. I have completed the game without problem, and after 5-6 missions, i didn't even notice the mouse-issues anymore. It could be different problems, or to a different degree.

I have tried the game on three VERY different systems now, and they ALL suffer the same mouseweirdness. Real shame. The game is GREAT!
