Greetings

I recently restarted playing Grim Dawn for a while... I was using 1.0.0.9 version (yes, old one, i took a long break with the game)
I play with controller (because sadly, i physically cannot really play H&S / ARPG games with KB+M anymore since a handful of years now) and up to 1.0.0.9 GD was maybe the only one (with torchlight 2 using a third party dedicated tool) that had decent controller support... Sometimes a bit tedious and clunky, sometimes i would get some help of my mouse, but overall it worked (i play rather casual simple builds that dont require many powers)

Decided to update it but i wanted first to catch up with all the gazillions patchnotes that came with all the updates i missed before deciding to update.

Now i did,and while i noticed there was a rather big overhaul of the UI regarding the use of a controller, like the back button brings now all character, map, skill screens and such; the skill allocation to quickslots changed (the little wheely thing)...
I usually put auras/toogle activation skills on quickslot 7+, so even if, in 1.0.0.9, it was a bit tedious to activate all possible 4 slots there, it was usually for skills that i dont use in the heat of battle, and onlly constant-activated skills that you only launch at start (or when ressurecting at town) and in a safe zone.
So far i was used to the Right Stick push and then emulate mouse pointer and click to all 4

Now in 1.1.3.0 the right stick button doesnt trigger "free mouse pointer emulation" anymore and there is no such "key binding setting" in the options.

So, question is: how do i activate quickslots 7+ with a controller on GD 1.1.3.0 (using a Xbox360 device here)

Thank you a lot in advance for the help

Hello,

I'm not sure if you have found a solution to your answer yet, but I will try and help.

Pressing the "back" button on your controller will bring up a menu. While in this mode, the left analog stick will act as your mouse/pointer. The "A" button will act as left click. Unfortunately there is no right click. "RB" or "LB" will cycle through your options. "Y" will bring up another menu where you can assign your skills. While in this menu (and in game), "R3" will toggle your quickbar.

Here are two pics to illustrate what I mean.

Thank you, sadly i already had to resort in this trick and dump those powers to "alternate" scheme that can be toggled

however, the fact there are two distinct settings that can be toggled back and forth has already its use (not for my currenct character, but in theory, for any advanced build)
so it is only a temporary workaround

it is sad that while this game had seen its controller support improve on one hand (and allow controller users like me to enjoy more complex character builds), on the other hand some things that could be done (even clumsily/slowly) with controller up to at least 1.0.0.9 can not be done anymore

so sure, i can use the mouse, or the alternate settings that can be toogled, but it defeat the whole point :(
especially as it could be done (i have seen xpadder very advanced profiles for some games that used some very clever ways to give acces to as much as 12 or 16 hotbar powers and skills at your very fingertips)

still i guess i dont have to complain: Grimdawn is one of the best Hack and Slash available, and contrary to D3 or PoE, it has a very solid controller support right out of the box...

Y works as a right-click for me on the inventory screen. I use it to read various documents and recipes, as well as for adding components to items. I didn't change anything in the keybindings, so maybe I just got lucky somehow or it's contextual based on the screen you're on.
