What many people don't know is that you can
create magic shields with staffs, but they're mana-dependent (each hit reduces your mana). Of course, you need the "Magic staves" skill.

Treasure Hunters Map for ingame use. It might interest you, but I haven't tried it, so I can't say what exactly does it do. Installed by moving the file (gui.mod) into ...\Gothic 3\Data.

Merchants' inventories are randomly generated, so save/loading is heavily recommended unless you're going OLOG if you want tablets.
Actually, I saw walkthroughs for getting LQ at level 1, even without CP/AB when it had 100 AK as a prerequisite. With AB the skill costs 7 LPs instead of 5, but is 50 AK and 2000 gold cheaper, so it's available even more easily.

Also, invest either into lockpicking (two levels are a must, I usually do even the third one) or learn the Open Locks spell (not an end-game spell with AB) / stock up on Open Locks scrolls. Don't forget to grab all the Weapon, Mage and XXL chests. Those are the ones that contain some random items and a predetermined weapon/shield/blueprint or scroll/potion/amulet/ring/staff or a pure magic ore blank/rare scroll. You'll always get the special items in the same order, regardless if you begin with chest #1 or chest #37 (except for XXL chests, where it's random, so save/load if you want PMOBs)
