Sanjuro: ...
JudasIscariot: With roguelikes it's easy to post about them for several reasons:
a. you can't really spoil anything as most of the dungeons and randarts (random artifacts) are randomly generated.
b. you can have a different experience between posts
c. most roguelikes are quick and easy to get into but difficult to master
d. the ones that I can play comfortably in ASCII make for a great "palette cleanser" as when you come back to actual graphics you tend to appreciate them more in my experience
e. by talking about a game anyone at all can get, regardless of their financial situation, I avoid being a shill and trying to "sell" someone on a particular game.
There are probably more reasons than this but these were the ones that came to me within seconds after reading your previous post :)
You have a point as usual. :-)
Although "e." is somewhat questionable. I don't see discussing a game you like as being a shill, not with the way you do it; a blue you may be, but also someone who played the game and whose opinion can help people decide to buy/pass some games. Besides, there are game reviews, videos on Twitch/Youtube/elsewhere and whatnot so people can easily check if a game is their type or not.
As for free games, have you played
Battle for Wesnoth? Do you know some good free games
we forgot to mention?
Speaking of spoilers, I'm probably not the first to ask and I know you aren't the one responsible for technical aspect of the forum, but do you happen to know if [spoiler]/[hide text] tags are going to be implemented here? I mean, a gaming forum can hardly avoid spoilers altogether, especially while discussing game lore.
