Thankfully, I've dutifully prepared for the inevitability of a gong update.

There's the oft mentioned Playnite

Pegasus, a rather up and coming frontend.

And for those of us on Linux, there's a few choices more.

Such as Gamehub, a fairly new launcher.

Minigalaxy, a community oriented GOG specific launcher...

And of course, The lovely otter themed launcher.. Recently gained multiple game import, too.

These aren't alternate stores. They're just alternate frontends. You don't really need them (or Galaxy) but I thought I'd come by and offer these options anyway, if you're frustrated at the codebase that Galaxy is, since it is a broken piece of closed source software.

Why do many people recommend Playnite when it doesn't even group duplicate games like Galaxy? Sure there's a plugin for that but why bother? I've tried Playnite many times but can't get into it. It looks really bad and kinda defeat the purpose because we all using these launcher because we wanted our library to look as good as possible. Galaxy is much superior.
For me Playnite is litery beta ver of galaxy. Set PN is super hard, make me for just use orginal luncher than PN (Galaxy doing this in auto)
