When I try to run GOG Galaxy 2.0 while connected to my computer via Microsoft the remote desktop MSTSC client I get the following error message:
"Connection to Communication service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown."

I used to get this error message in the 1.x client as well so I'm disappointed to see this bug persisting in the major revision. Is there any plan to resolve this longstanding issue?

There is a potential solution but it is not planned for any of the closest updates at the moment. Sorry you won't be able to remote into GOG Galaxy in the near future. Hope you can still enjoy it nonetheless
Thanks, I appreciate the reply. It's by no means a critical issue - just wanted to bring it to your attention since I've seen at least one other post about this in the forums (perhaps about the 1.x client)

All of the above is true for me as well, through the latest 2.0 beta as of now.
I am experiencing this issue as well. No firewall is blocking outbound connections so I'm pretty sure it's not on my end.

This message appears when there are multiple sessions connected to the same mac, you just have to disconnect the other users and that's it.

I have the same issue on a new mac. It's infuriating. I am not using remote desktop, VPN, crypto shit, or having multiple users logged in. I tried the recommended steps (uninstall, wipe out two directories in Shared / Library). Nothing will work. Are there any other tips?

I've just got this issue after installing Galaxy 2.0. There aren't any other users on my Mac or anything, so all I can think is that maybe my login from 1.x is still active, even though 2.0 seems to have replaced it. Is there any way I can force it to logout and start over?
Same error after clean install on GOG Galaxy for 2.0 Beta for Mac OS running Mojave (v10.14.6). No VPN, no multiple users etc

Tried reinstall twice after cleaning /users/shared/gog.com

It's shocking this keeps happening for people. Hope GOG fixes this soon so we can access our games and saves...

keep happening now on my osx and cannot play games anymore.
not only Connection to Communication Service but I am lost.
so sad
This invariably appears whenever I launch GOG Galaxy with my VPN activated, even with GOG Galaxy being among the apps explicitly excluded from the VPN. I guess that GOG Galaxy must be very sensitive to anything even resembling a tunneling or proxy service on a system, even when it's not used for GOG Galaxy itself...

It also happens when trying to exclude Galaxy from using VPN.

Here is the thing: It works completely fine if you enable VPN without any exclusion. The moment you tell your VPN to exclude Galaxy and all those .exes I could find, the error message pops out. I also tried not to exclude apps but only enable some apps on VPN tunnel while all the other apps (Galaxy included) should connect without VPN. The error still persists. No matter what I do, I can't connect to Galaxy while both connections are "active".

It connects fine with VPN, it connects fine whitout VPN. The moment I add any tunneling configuration (even though Galaxy is not listed anywhere) It throws me the error. But this is frustrating because using VPN adds lag to the connection and often disconnects while in game.

Please GoG, fix this!

Why would you say that? If we cannot connect we cannot play... Galaxy 2.0 is broken.
From my side I can connect but then after a few seconds the app raises an alert box that says connection lost, app will close. Then the app closes :/

Wrong thread ? This thread is specifically about the Galaxy client not working when you try to use the client via a remote desktop connection - which can be a time saver, when its just about looking after your library (like start a downloading process from afar) but makes rarely sense for playing games.
I still get the error window, but my downloads still work as long as I don't click OK
