markx182: I'm new to these types of games (X-Com: UFO Defense sits unplayed in my Steam games list), but I just played through the kickstarter demo of this and quite liked it, even though I only half knew what I was doing. I could see myself putting plenty of hours into it. Looks to be worth backing.
Now I think I need to play some X-Com.
Also, be warned that in X-COM, the interface is really ancient. I've no problems with it, but if you're new, you should know that your TUs aren't displayed. One directly adjacent square costs 4 TUs per normal terrain, and adjacent along the diagonal of the square is 6 TUs. Various tiles also have different effects on your TU cost.
It's also bloody brutal. You can have enemies waiting just outside your dropship on the very first turn. I remember on my first terror mission (i.e., aliens attack the city in large forces), I had cyberdiscs, sectoids (a few with mind control) and chryssalids camping near the foot of the loading platform.
