Did I slip into the twilight zone? :/
with Bethshittia releasing the BFG edition repackaging of Doom 3 people got all hyped about how many great mods the game had for it, but since the BFG doom 3 was actually a rebuild of the game using IDs tech 5 engine all of the old mods that were built using the Tech 4 version wouldn't work with it.

so people started to buy up replacement copies of the regular Doom 3 to play the mods, but Bethshittia felt that was a threat to the sales figures of the BFG edition and pulled original version of Doom 3 from the market.

as is the natural cause and effect result for when you dick someone in the ass, shit erupted and now everyone is on the hunt for their old physical copies of Doom 3 to symbolically shove in Bethshittia's face.

I know it's a small victory, but for me it's a nice bit of good news to find out I still at least have it... :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is probably the most accurate summation of the situation I have heard yet. :P Yeah, and I actually want to play the Dark Mod too...

Slight problem, I'm trying to install Doom 3 in linux mint, but for some reason it refuses to run the script for the linux install. :( I wonder if anyone can offer a solution.

Edit: nvm, I am such a dumbass. I forgot to set the script to run as a program. Oh man I feel dense. LOL woops!

Isnt that considered theft and don't we have a crime system for stuff like that?

It is, except for the fact I didn't know about the stolen stuff till well after he left the continent. And, by that time, I figured the costs of the goods wasn't worth the effort to track his sorry ass down. It sucks, but I figured I rather just cut my losses and replace the things I did care about keeping. I know it's rather apathetic but I was trying to be practical.

Did he just waiting for you to leave then pack his things?

If someone stole my things, like my precious games... I'll go berserk. But other than that, money, clothes, foods they can take it.

I am so happy, fortunately unlike my poor copy of SS2, my ex-roommate didn't get a chance to swipe this one too. ^_^ I just wanted to make a post and let everyone in on the sight bit of good news. Now, I can give those sweet sweet mods a go. :)

Well, what he did was he took things like games, and movies out of their cases but put the cases back, so I wouldn't notice they were touched. Oh I was royally pissed about SS2 getting swiped but I am going to try buy a new (well used) copy on Amazon when I have some cash.

Thanks man, yeah all the kindness has really brightened my day, and finding my Doom 3 copy really was a nice bonus.

Me either, I am happy I can install it on Linux so I have a game on the go. Assuming I can get it to run on Linux at all...it keeps crashing :\

W00T! I know exactly how you feel, it is like when I found the Heavy Gear CD that I didn't even recall owning (and which I had been looking for high and low in flea markets). Fortunately I didn't buy a second copy of it.

Or how I recently found my lost CD version of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, which I was pretty sure I had lost during a move. But no, now it sits neatly in my cupboard, just waiting to be played.

It is like finding a long-lost friend you didn't even remember having, or which you thought had already passed away. Kinda freaky, actually.

So true, I mean admittedly I would have been happier to have found my SS2 disc. But, it was nice of the universe to work in my favour, so I'll take it. :P
