I'm just curious about you guys and your television habits.

For me, I think I haven't watch TV in about 6 years now. I vastly prefer to surfing the Internet, playing games, watching anime/Netflix streaming, and reading manga/stuff on Kindle.

Honestly, I can no longer tolerate TV anymore with their overwhelming of useless commercials and useless un-entertaining programs. If there's an entertaining series on TV, I simply wait for DVDs to come out or when it come to Netflix streaming. That way, I can enjoy the program in its entirety without having to wait for new episode to come and suffering through useless product placement and commercials.

I'm just perfectly content with just my computer and Kindle to keep me occupied. Also, I have social life that has me hitting up conventions and gatherings frequently so I'm very happy to have good interactions with people.

So how about you guys? :)

I try to watch the evening news. Maybe even some documentaries. But that's far less than an hour a day, to be sure.
I haven't watched live TV other than baseball games and news since... I dunno... the 90's. I watched X-Files and ER and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine a lot, plus some other random shit.

News I mostly watch CNN, but even that is sparse since we have internet news.

I watch a lot of TV shows though, on DVD before and now-a-days I just download them.
I hardly ever watch TV nowadays. Sometimes I watch House and other series and see what's going on in the local news, otherwise I don't watch TV that much anymore.
I haven't really watched TV since around 1996 and even before that it was pretty sporadic.
I don't subscribe to Netflix either. Television doesn't really interest me at all.

I don't watch TV, havn't in years.

Boring content, copious adds.

I don't download TV shows either, there is just nothing I want to watch anymore.

Video games and reading is my entertainment.

I'm in a similar situation as far as television goes. I rarely watch anything on tv except perhaps if there's a documentary or science/history program that seems interesting.

I far prefer gaming, reading, and watching movies (that we've bought on disc - and usually after they've been reduced in price). Also, like you, the wife and I generally wait until a tv series is out on DVD/Blu-ray before watching it. Advertisement-free television shows is the only way to watch them. We buy very few shows when they're first released either, as we'll usually wait until they're discounted. There are a couple of exceptions, but most shows we buy are discounted.

It means we're quite behind the times when it comes to what we're watching, but we don't care about keeping up with the crowd as far as entertainment is concerned.
I turn on news every so often, but as far as regular TV shows, there isn't anything I follow anymore. The only reason I have basic cable is it is cheaper to have it with internet service than pay for internet by itself.

Between Youtube, streaming, and other online shows I keep up with, I have plenty of video based entertainment for myself.
As I'm getting older, I find I'm watching television less and less. If I'm interested in a show I'll stream it via netflix or a similar service.

I'd rather spend my after work time reading or playing video games. The only live television I watch nowadays is college football. If it wasn't for that, I would ditch cable completely.
I like watching cheesy (mostly horror) movies late at night when i can't sleep. A lot of times I've discovered movies I really liked that I've never heard of before. The internet is nice and all but sometimes I get tired of listening and watching exactly what I choose to, I think it's healthy to let the tv choose for me once in a while. I used to be "I don't watch TV anymore because I'm better than that" in college but then I realized I was living in a sort of self made bubble being surrounded by "my" music and movies and nothing else.
Television... that's the thing you plug you console into, right?

Seriously though, there is really no other reason to turn on the TV, most of the content is awful and even when there is actually something worth watching do I really want to reschedule my time just because of it? With internet I can whatch content whenever I want.
I'm so oldskool and "luddite" that I watch TV daily, or at least it is running in the background while I am e.g. using the computer. Now they are showing a movie called "Slackers" as I am writing this. I'm not really watching it though, seems quite stupid.

If I didn't watch any TV, then I guess I wouldn't see any movies anymore either, since I don't rent them, and rarely go to cinemas. And TV is also a good excuse to cuddle with the gf on sofa, can't do that very well if I am playing something or GOGging on laptop.

The news I try to watch daily from TV, albeit I can read pretty much the same news online as well. But TV news give a pretty good summary about the most important news in 10 minutes.

Something that is a bit common to my gaming is that I am hoarding a bit too many movies and TV series from the TV, which I hardly ever watch. But I also delete them from my recording box quite freely, if they fail to hold my interest during the first 10 minutes.

I hardly ever watch tv anymore
Only times i watch are when i need something running in the background while im doing something else (and i dont fancy music then), or there's a certain documentary i want to see (if i had bothered to check the tv weekly listings earlier), or sports coverage of the rare local sports games i cant get online.
Having said that i rarely listen to the radio either ;).
Most of information i need or want is available online ...
Dang, only now I realized I've seen this damn Slackers movie already. I didn't remember it until I the scene with the sponge-bathing the old lady with spectacular tits. I wonder if there is anything else coming from other channels?

I forgot to mention that while I do watch TV daily, I'm either too cheap or too uninterested to get any paid channels. I feel there is already quite enough stuff to see even on the "free" TV channels. A VOD service like Netflix could be ok though, if the price will be low enough. I'd prefer if it was pay-per-view, and not a monthly payment.

I couldn't even get decent air reception on my TV when I moved into my apartment. I was even given a giant receiver the size of my arm that I mounted on my all, and it still didn't work. And of course I don't want to pay for cable. My TV exists for the sole purpose of DVDs and console games.
