And still, that's how I stumbled upon Holmes - "Discover / Games / Video Games / Popular" (if my memory isn't playing tricks on me, which it often is).

Yep. It's an exposure game. If the kickstarter staff doesn't put you on the home page or Redditers don't vote you up, it's tough. Trust me ;)
It's the same problem with book publishing. I wrote an urban fantasy and getting people to find it on Amazon is a nightmare...
