thelovebat: Not sure if this is legit or not, but it certainly looks interesting

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1047510073/remee-the-rem-enhancing-lucid-dreaming-mask?ref=activity

A mask that can enhance lucid dreaming?

Huh, I guess that just takes away the novelty of it when you do have one. (I've had 2 in my lifetime that I can remember)

PMIK: Who cares if it works or not when these con-artists just scammed people into giving them $200k for a mask with flickering lights. Man people are stupid and gullible
And what exactly makes them con artists? They are telling people exactly what they're paying for. You might think that their product is overpriced or that it might not induce the desired effect, but that hardly makes it a scam.

nijuu: *looks and looks* i can't find this on kickstarter......:P
I'm still not sure if I should include Indiegogo projects, but I'm willing to give them a fair chance. I'll be damned if Xenonauts decides to use Indiegogo instead, and I don't have them on the list :P

They are using some legit medical facts to support their product which they haven't established really works in order to obtain a result which is subjective and can't be substantiated. It's a perfect way to take everyone's money without fear of a successful lawsuit
Updates about the Pinkerton Road kickstarter:

-The goal is to continue the Gabriel Knight series eventually!

-New reward tiers. Get a song composed by Robert Holmes.
Holy crap kickstarter's redesign is awful. Fortunately the sections are still as they used to be - I'm hoping they won't change them, but who knows. Good thing we have kicktraq.

Also those lamps are awesome. 42 hours to go. I requested a quote/option for unpainted wooden parts only.

And you said that whether or not it works they're con artists. It may be a set of blinking lights, but it could conceivably work and if it's just bunk they wouldn't be protected from lawsuit by the subjectivity of the matter.

Looks like a lot of effort was involved in this project. The lamps also look pretty cool. I won't be backing this though, but I'll bet some homemakers around here would.

This project looks pretty cool:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/395241201/micromon-a-monster-capture-game-for-mobile-devices

It actually looks very nice visually and the over world in the game is very colourful. The monsters themselves look interesting, a little hit and miss but some of them seem fun. Only issue is I don't have a smart phone....so it doesn't mean much for me really.

Oh ew, it has microtransactions. Ugh. Nevertheless, it looks interesting.
http://www.indiegogo.com/craftstudio

I think CraftStudio has a lot of potential. It's a program for making games with graphics style reminiscent of Minecraft. Supposedly easy to use and powerful, it might turn out to be very cool. Now in pre-alpha that only lets you make models. Nevertheless, might be worth keeping an eye on.
Very nice find! Just in time too, only 34 hours left. I may back this one.
I'm sad to see that Starlight Inception is coming up just short of it's goal. Only a few days left and they need a bit more backing to make it happen. Anybody else want to jump on board?

SirPrimalform: Never said anything of the sort. What you said implied they didn't like games made by Japanese people, but were fine with the same kind of games made by Westerners.

Starmaker: "JRPG" is a distinctive style of RPG, much like a platformer is a particular style of arcade. While this style is particularly popular with Japanese devs, there's no reason Westerners can't make a "JRPG".

However, when Western people do make such a game, they are often "inspired" by particular games so much that in addition to imitating the mechanics, they produce a twice-digested sorry pile of misunderstanding. I bet you a hundred bucks that if someone made a random selection of undoctored backstory synopsises only from various RPGs made and proposed by Westerners, I'll easily tell which ones are, or are meant to be, "JRPGs".

This game, however, is very in-your-face about NOT having any crystal maiden regurgitated wtf in it. And that's good.
So it's only westerners that try to make JRPGs that are a problem.

Because I thought the Codex also hated JRPGs made in Japan by Japanese people (theoretically) for other Japanese people.

JRPGs and RPGs shouldn't even be considered the same genre. The reason one plays a RPG is almost completely different from the reason to play a JRPG, yes they both have leveling mechanics (usually) but then so does Call of Duty. Watch the 3 part Extra Credits episodes for a really cogent argument that we classify video games very poorly and the RPG and JRPG labels are a prime example of classifying games poorly.

Maybe the people backing Starlight Inception and the people backing Nekro should team up?
