Total Annihilation: Commander Pack is an immortal RTS, the first one to display 3D generated units and terrain, with truckloads of missions, boatloads of units, and trainloads of tense, epic military rivalry, whether it’s between you and AI or in multiplayer battles. Total Annihilation is as important for the RTS genre, as Rolling Stones are for the Rock music. Total Annihilation: Kingdoms takes the same strategic formula to a new dimension of skeletal archers, undead foot soldiers, magic-casting wizards, and dragon riders. You can buy both of these amazing games for only $2.99 each.

The Star Control series has what is is arguably one of the best the game of space exploration ever made! The games are epic space opera with clever humor, thrilling starship battles, and hair-raising plot twists; it’s a mix of genres many of titles have tried to copy--often without success--and it’s one of the most influential titles of the ‘90s. If you are a *camper* who likes to have *parties*, buy Star Control 1+2 for only $2.99 or Star Control 3, the final part of the series, for the same low price.

The mass appeal of Rollercoaster Tycoon is both undeniable and at the same time unexpected. Honestly, would you believe that designing and building amusement parks is easy enough for a casual gamer to jump in and have fun, yet has enough depth to attract even the hardcore geek? Please be warned: Rollercoaster Tycoon: Deluxe and Roller Coaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack are terribly addictive and impossible to stop playing for only $2.99 and $4.99 respectively. Purchase at your own risk 50% off this weekend only.

Blood (One Unit Whole Blood) is a first-person shooter with horror elements which uses the Build engine. Also, Blood (the game) uses a lot of blood (the bodily fluid) to show you how bloody killing zombies, demons, cultists, and even evil gods is. Enemies might explode when taken out; it is possible to kick severed heads; impaled victims can be found lying around; enemies die in different ways depending on how they are attacked and in which part of their body, etc. Blood 2 follows the same path of crimson havoc. We’ve almost bled out to offer you Blood (One Unit Whole Blood) and Blood II: The Chosen for only $2.99 each.

En fullträff! Outcast är det första spel jag sett som både är ett bra actionspel och ett utmärkt äventyrsspel. You couldn’t agree more with the Swedish magazine Spel för Alla when describing , a really perfect action-adventure game. The game features orchestral score performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra and choir, and an AI that was considered revolutionary at the time it was released. Find out why GameSpot named [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/outcast]Outcast "Adventure Game of the Year" for only $2.99 on GOG.com.

The Master of Orion series of games is a 4X turn-based strategy, a perfect mix of macro and micro managing, a game that feels fresh and exciting each time you start anew. Lead one the ten space races, each with unique strategies and abilities, to explore the galaxy and defend your world. timppu: Yeah, I meant that changing the registry changed my system so that now DOSBox (or any Windows app which would try to play MIDI) utilized the MT-32 synth driver, instead of the default MS General MIDI/GS Softsynth driver. Same that happens when in XP I'd change the driver from Control Panel => MIDI Output Device or whatever it was.

Anyway, we'll see...
Yes - it's a bit inconvenient but I like trying games on varuous midi devices (I have installed Yamaha XG, Default MS, Munt and Live! with 2 or 3 SF). Ohh.. yest - if that's DOSBox game that supports GUS - I try it as well.

tburger: ...
I got it finally working in Win7 64bit. The registry hack didn't seem to work, or then I did something wrong.

Anyways, to recap:

I copied the ROM files (I used the CM-32L ROM files) and installed the driver as in option #1 in:

http://queststudios.com/smf/index.php?topic=3376.0

Then:

http://www.sierrahelp.com/Utilities/SoundUtilities/PutzlowitschsVistaMIDI_Mapper.html

I copied the PLWMidiMap.cpl from the zip file into C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ (and also System32, but I think that applies only to 32bit Windows), but unlike in the instructions, the new item never appeared in my Control Panel for some reason.

However, simply double-clicking that .cpl file ran the needed utility, so I created a shortcut to that .cpl file (C:\Windows\SysWOW64\PLWMidiMap.cpl) to my Desktop, so now I can change the MIDI output device easily.

After that DOSBox will use the MT-32 emulator whenever a game sends MIDI messages. For games that use General MIDI or SCC-1/Sound Canvas, naturally it has to be changed back to Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth.

Verdict for the new Munt: two thumbs up! It feels near perfect now, I don't think I will use my CM-32L anymore.

In a couple of games I felt the reverb mode was not quite the same as in CM-32L by default, but maybe that is selectable in the Munt ini file, and even with a bit different reverb they still sound pretty much the same. I didn't find any other differences or glitches. I tried many Sierra, Dynamix, Origin and LucasArts games, and others I remembered to have interesting music.

Games I tried and I suggest to anyone who is interested to hear (including games from the companies above (from Sierra, mostly their older games before they started supporting General MIDI, because after that they didn't concentrate on making the MT-32 sound good anymore, but just try to make it emulate General MIDI devices):

Utopia (check especially "Music 4" from the ingame music selection screen)

Nova 9 (probably worth a replay for me, I remember the very last level had shockingly good, albeit short and repetitive, tune that really got the blood flowing).

Lethal Weapon (yay, the intro music sounds pretty much perfect with Munt! But as in real DOS, I don't seem to be able to proceed to the actual game from the intro if using Roland music (possible with Adlib/SB music), but it is a stupid 2D platform shooter anyway).

Speedball 2 (reverb seemed a bit laggy during gameplay, but otherwise good)

Ringworld

King's Table: The Legend of Ragnarok

Quest for Glory 2

Silpheed

Strike Commander

and so on...

I think Ocean's "Inferno" had some great MT-32 music too, I need to try that too.
