I wouldn't go so far as making an allusion that the show actually depicts what would happen in the event of an actual zombie apocolypse. There are several things that are quite unrealistic about the show
1)It's kind of strange the group agrees upon a consensus to not use guns since gunshots apparently attract the walking dead. However a harley davidson or a revving hummer does not begin to attract the horde...which is strange.
2)You wouldn't actually be able to steal fuel off a vehicle that has been laying dormant for months together...fuel is only usable for so long
3)This is with every on screen depiction where if some bloke is shot then there is a pressing need to remove the bullet.....which is actually a load of bs.it's much safer to stop the bleeding since a bullet isn't actually made of venom and removing one would tear up blood vessels that could prove to be fatal
4)You might say I am nitpicking here but I find the show characters to be largely two dimensional by mid-season....the first season wasn't great but it had promise. You cannot actually begin to empathize with the characters since they are not very likable
5)Until now the series fails to capture the turmoil or the sense of paranoia or absolute dread that you would have if the dead actually came back to life. I never for once felt any sense of trepidation
6)I expect to see an actual sense of decadence, not only in the world but with the characters as well and I am glad that's what starting to show in the season finale.....I t hink at our beases level we all like zombies becausethey showcase the worst of what humanity can offer. It's a summation of all our fears...
7)The show fails to engage you with the characters....my problem is not with the depiction of a zombie apocalypse which I think is very well done but that the show until now has failed to create engaging characters or personalities and this is where the comic book is superior. I am not sure if it has to do with the medium of televeision being a limitation or me as a discerning viewer. Perhaps it's might have something to do with the length of the show.
8)To see a series that concerns itself with a zombie apocalypse done right check out the stellardead set(faster zombies but creates that sense of paranoia and dread very well or the machinima web series "Bite me" while not perfect is a fun zombie romp.
I am sure what the series writers have in mind.Perhaps it was just a build up a to a thrilling finale but while the walking dead is watchable I do think it's quite overrated.
DodoGeo: the reason I consider looking into comics was that chick with 2 chained zombies at the end.
keeveek: Oh man, for me it's totally opposite. I loved the comics until Michonne appeared. After her, comics began to be more and more riddiculous.
The reason I liked Walking Dead was because it was realistic. It was something like apocalypse/zombie survival, something really beliveable.
But then Michonne happened. Governor happened. Amputees happened. I'm glad I quit reading comics..
Lionel212008: It was slowly turning out to be the most obnoxious television drama ever with the occasional zombie turning up to remind you that it's a show about zombies - heaven forbid were there an actual zombie apocalypse you were stuck with a bunch of these assholes - To tell you the truth when the horde showed up at the end I actually rooted for the hungry lil' fellas....
keeveek: Dude, this is what would happen if zombie apocalypse happened. You would search for a place AWAY from the zombies to live there.
Also, this is NOT a show about zombies. You should've learned that after two seasons already.
