This is an interesting thread. It wouldn't make me the least disappointed if GOG never included a single "porn game" in its collection, but the reactions here are quite interesting to read.

Looking at it without empathy, the only difference between (the actions) sex and rape is the lack of concent on at least one of the involved. If you want you can act out a "rape" role-playing session, which would (or could, depending on the acting skills I guess) look the same as a rape, yet without the same long-term psychological damage that rape causes. That is, if part of the story of RapeLay was that the "stalker" already knew his "victims" and they'd already agreed upon carrying out this role-play, it would make it a "regular sex game" (I'm guessing - I only skipped through the wiki text so if there are actions performed that wouldn't be possible as part of a role-play I'd be wrong). And that should, in theory, be no more problematic to add to the GOG catalogue than say the Larry titles - unless they're deemed too graphic (which isn't a problem when it comes to blood, dismemberments etc in other types of games).

But, of course, turning off our empathy - or allowing others to turn off their empathy - when it comes to an issue such as rape, well, that's clearly not an option in today's society. It's irrational and emotional, but that's what we are - irrational and emotional (some to a higher degree than others). So, my rational side would not object to RapeLay being here (at least not with a changed backstory), but my less rational side is quite happy knowing that GOG will not add it, period.

This would be a suspension or ban in many forums, but here he gets away with it. I really don't think that is OK, and seriously hope the GOG site update comes with the ability to block users as is standard on most forums.

I vote against RapeLay (mostly because it's a cheap shocker without any deeper meaning)
But I also vote against this kind of moderation. I believe that there is a script that allows you to put some user to permanent 'ignore' (same way you can ignore giveaways) so you might want to try that - but moderation here is just fine and I'm totally against making it heavier. Even if that means I can be exposed to something that can possibly offent me (I'm yet to see something offending me personaly here, but there's a small possibility that one day something like this happens).

Licurg is just trolling. He's going for the shock value. That's vastly different from having a discussion on sensitive topics that might include offensive stuff.

I'm fine with people having different viewpoints. I'm fine with other people doing things I find offensive. I'm *not at all* fine with someone using a rape simulator to get attention. That's what I think is worthy of moderation.

If Licurg had wanted a discussion about rape simulators and hentai, he would have started one. He didn't. Instead he trolled, using rape, which is a serious and life-changing trauma that has harmed many people. One of these things is not like the other.

The first is fine, and actually I would like it. People should think about these issues and examine what offensive means. The second is exploitative. I think that deserves some moderation.

I myself posted a Jimquisition episode dealing with the subject of 'rape vs. murder in games'. Some posts here are pretty serious and deliver good reading material. So, if Licurg was trolling, he failed at it as this topic turned into semi-productive discussion :)
Removing the wish from the wishlist (as something that GOG is not willing to ever release here) is fine. Locking topics, baning people from the forum, giving warnings... well, as long as nobody's making a topic with subject like '[username] is a steaming pile of crap' and filled with personal insults directed at that users, posting porn materials or racist statments and stuff like that - I don't think there is any need for moderation.
