yeah I was gonna say:
Valve is responsible for Troika closing. Because Valve wouldn't let them release their game until after Half-Life 2, just because it used the Source Engine.
God damn Valve, they made better games than you did, they just licensed your engine, and you have to punish them for that? DIAF.

phanboy4: Then don't use the mod aspect. Bugfixes and gameplay changes have been separated in the patch since several versions ago.

Yes, that's what i do. What i mean is, since most bugs, if not all that bothered me, have been fixed in one of the older versions of Wesp's basic patch, i'm not too excited about newer versions of the patch. The older one that i still use suits me just fine, and aside from the official patch, it's the only patch i use with VTMB.

Strix: Sigh... You know that's going to happen. Although the True Patch is ok he really should keep his bullshit to his own site.

Yup, and that's the reason I no longer play the game. That fuckwit has destroyed any enjoyment I could ever get from it with their never ending crap. While I was I playing the game, there was pretty much nowhere VTMB related you could go where that prick wasn't already trying to piss off the community even more.

That's really too bad - hopefully you'll get over that and be able to enjoy it again soon.

It's not Valve's fault, the only way they screwed Troika over was by giving them an early Source engine version that Troika had to heavily modify to bring up to snuff.
Troika shot themselves in the foot in two ways: 1. By making inventive, complex, well-written CRPGs, and 2. By consistently pushing out unfinished games, VtMB in particular.

Fortunately Troika games has faithful and resourceful community that has made unofficial pathces, mods and enhancements for all Toika games.
Beside Wesp's unofficial patch for VtMB there is also:
VTMB: Camarilla Edition
VTMB: Camarilla Edition is an Expansion Overhaul that completely changes the game mechanics and how we approach the game of Bloodlines. After playing through Bloodlines over 10 times the replay value has decreased, and we started thinking of ways to improve the game to make it much more realistic. I have long since been a fan of Bethesda's Open Ended Sandbox games so that is the feel I wanted to bring to Bloodlines.
One of the biggest problems with Bloodlines is that you never get the sense of BEING a Vampire. I mean you have powers and you drink blood, but only to fuel those powers most of which are extremely short lived. Not only that but I have never dropped below a humanity of 10 because I was never in danger of going hungry. So what we did was completely overhaul how everything from Feeding and Regeneration, to Bloodpool and Disciplines work, giving you a completely new experience to Bloodlines unlike anything you've played in the past.
Check here for screenshots of upcoming 1.2 version and trailer.
VTMB Companion Mod
VTMB Companion Mod enhances Vampires: The Masquerade Bloodlines by allowing you to recruit other NPCs to join your party and travel with you throughout the game. Other enhancements include:
* Ability to possess your traveling companions and use their special abilities from afar (if desired).
* Ability to embrace select human companions later in the game.
* Place party members around your haven in an assortment of animated poses
* Tell party members to change outfits.
* Supports installable outfit packs.
* Access to secondary traveling inventory through companion dialog.
* Over 250 dialog responses were crafted from existing audio to support new transition conversations with companions
The only thing that was really wrong with VtMB was the last 1/4-1/5th of the game. The last few areas were atrocious. But the rest of the game made it worth it.

Actually valve DID force a delay. I have a distinct memory of laughing at the thought that a HL2 engine game would come out before HL2 but then it was delayed at the behest of valve. I remember being pissed off with them because of it and being even less interested in HL2 than I already was. Hell the only reason I ended up playing HL2 at all was politeness when a mate gave me his spare copy after the orange box
All that said, if TMB was released that month or so earlier, it would have been in an even buggier and shoddier state os overall it was probably for the best
I remember in what state this game was released... Bugs started to crawl up right of the bat, the very first cut-scene in the game was heavily out of sync and the game ran like crap on my brand new 6800 GT (while HL2 ran smooth as silk). Then I started to read forums about how people where unable to progress through the game because of gamebreaking bugs and I said "screw it".
Now, 5 years later, I have completed the game with the 6.5 unofficial patch, and while the game still felt rushed and unpolished I was having a real blast playing through it.
Now i consider VtMB one of my favorite games of all time and I have to thank the unofficial patch for that, because without it I would probably never play this brilliant game.
I will definitely replay it again with the new patch!
So if there are people like me who never played this game because of bugs, grab the unofficial patch and play it! It's super-awesome! :)
BTW I think Activision are to blame for everything, they should have given Troika more time (and money) to work on the game and not release it together with HL2 (what where they thinking?). Oh, and their whole QA department should have been fired!
But thats not really important now.
Argh, I wish I lived in the US so I could buy it. Can you gift games on D2D the same way you do on Steam?

Namur: It's on D2D UK for 3,95 right now...

Oh sure, they've stuck a price tag on it but NO SOUP FOR YOU!

I laugh every time I see those four words grouped together to make that phrase.

So "soup no you for!" isn't quite as amusing?

Doesn't have that same ring to it.
