Two Worlds II Velvet Edition (TWII +Pirates expac)

Always good to be a little more positive.

I've concluded a long time ago that life is short and pointless. We are born of chance and chaos and although we'd like to have our lives mean something in the grand scheme of things, we're all going to be dead and forgotten. The universe will continue and nothing will have changed.

This all sounds pretty grim, but ever since I've developed this nihilistic viewpoint, I've also developed a great appreciation for life; for you see, although our existence is but a blink of an eye in the lifespan of the universe, the fact that we're here at all to experience all these wonderful things around us is quite the marvel in itself.

Like I said, life is short - it'll be gone before you know it, but the world is full of wonders, from that majestic view from atop a mountain to the lights and people of a metropolis at night to even just a tiny flower growing out from a crack in the pavement.

I love taking in the sights and sounds of everything around me, knowing I'm just a visitor here, and that one day this will all be gone but at least I'll have enjoyed my time here. I don't let mundane things bother me because ultimately none of that will ever matter. There's no point being stressed out by everyday things or dwelling on the negatives.

Unfortunately we're surrounded by so much negativity (the media for example, loves to share terrible news) that it's easy to overlook the positive things in life. Yes, there are some very terrible things happening in the world, but there are just as many good people doing good things. You can spread a little joy too wherever you can, it'll make you feel better too. Also, appreciate the little things in life. I mean, isn't it amazing that you and everything you see around you are made of exploded stars, and that we are all just little specks on a giant rock in the middle of nothingness? I think that's amazing.

Finally, I'm not entering for TW2 (already have it). I just wanted to share why I'm glad to be alive.
May 2013 bring you happiness and good health, and makes at least one of your wishes come true!

And this goes for all of you GOGers!

=)

Not entering, but +1 and thanks for your kindness. :) And here's a favorite quote I try to live by. :)

"It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell. "
- Siddhārtha Gautama
Keep them coming :) Contest lasts another day and a half.
Not in, but thanks and +1 for your generosity, CymTyr!

My two cents:

“Many of life’s failures are experienced by people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
- Thomas Edison

“In any situation, the best thing you can do is the right thing; the next best thing you can do is the wrong thing; the worst thing you can do is nothing.”
- Theodore Roosevelt

”Life is a shipwreck but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats.”
- Voltaire

Also, I've always found tremendously inspiring this poem:

"If I can stop one Heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain
If I can ease one Life the Aching
Or cool one Pain
Or help one fainting Robin
Unto his Nest again
I shall not live in Vain."
- 'I Shall Not Live In Vain' by Emily Dickinson

I'm in for the giveaway, thanks, the fact that people give out free games like this so often on this site should be an uplifting concept to consider.
Thanks for the opportunity. My entry is a quote: "Change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." -- Wayne Dyer

I was just telling exactly that to CymTyr. I've tried refusing some of the gifts I've had, because I'm honestly feeling overwhelmed by kindness, but people insist and I've learnt my lesson. So I'll refreain from entering any giveaways in a while, instead.
