It's funny how some people keep trying their hardest to derail this thread from talking about freedom of speech/review into TB hate thread. I'm not really fond of TB but I have to side with with him on this case. We're not talking about just one reviewer. If this censorship doesn't get stopped now a lot more reviewers with negative results will end up losing their youtube account.

BadDecissions: Well, they reversed their claim and slunk off with their tails between their legs. Obviously this particular case being resolved doesn't help address the wider problem.
Interestingly, the astroturfed user reviews for the game on MetaCritic also appear to have vanished. I guess Wild Games have done a complete retreat.

So they basically admitted they bought/made those reviews... WOW... I wonder how many huge players in the industry are doing the same, but their work is better quality.

I remember Dragon Age 2 thing when suddenly there were many 10/10 reviews which happened to be made by Bioware employees.

It sounds stupid and silly, but that actually happens. Just wow.

And I am kinda sad that they retreated like that. For this to change, there should be some big trial involving big youtubers, to some supreme court once and for all settle the issue.

It's so stupid that a company may take down your video, because you had 30 seconds of someone's music playing in the background, for example. And you don't even need to put it there. I've read about people who lost their videos forever because they were walking by a store which was playing some VEVO music....

Oh yeah I hate that one. And it's all originated from flawed US copyright/patent laws. It's pretty ridiculous. What next? they will arrest us if we sing their song while taking a shower?

I remember they said that US is the land of opportunity. If you work hard enough you can get rich. But it seems like now it's more like keeping the rich stay rich no matter what. Even if it means stepping on creativity and/or trivial activities.

It's possible, although it's also possible that Metacritic themselves removed the reviews. They'll no doubt have records on the IP addresses that these reviews were submitted under, and probably found that many of them were identical or at least very similar (same ISPs).

This has been a very high-profile case, so it stands to reason that MC decided to do some checking of their own.

That really wouldn't be necessary. Comparing IP addresses and so on I mean. Did you see them when they were there? They were very VERY obvious. Apparently astroturfing is another area that Wild Games completely suck at.

I flicked through them, and I was also fairly sure that they were astroturfing.

But still, Metacritic probably would have wanted some kind of proof of origin if they were responsible for the deletions. All it would have taken would have been a wrongly deleted review for there to be a PR disaster.

We have a saying in Germany: "trust is good, checking is better".

True. Whatever happened, they're gone, and good riddance.
It seems their second greenlight game has been pulled. They must regret their actions now...

I honestly can't remember but there is a link on the first page that doesn't work anymore. After TB's video the game got downvoted a lot and got a lot of negative comments discouraging people to vote for it.

A third person RPG called Dungeon Gate. I checked it earlier when it's still up and the comment section is littered with angry commenters.

Available @ and [url=http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-DG/dungeon-gate]GamersGate. Looks meh and there's only few short video clips of it at Youtube. From few reviews I found, it's only redeeming quality is Dysan’s ability to scan and turn himself into every single person, animal or creature in the game, and then use their powers and even upgrade each form.

Also from the Desura page it's pretty bug ridden even before thwy can start the game.

Potzato: Personnaly, I'm fine with not hearing his explanation ! ;)
He just piqued my curiosity about the "French" Canadians - would there be a difference if they were English Canadians and if yes, what would make the difference?
