Fesin: Though I don't think the BIG games are neither Rare, Elite or Legendary - it's just plain impossible to get them now.

IAmSinistar: I suspect you may be correct. Perhaps GOG programmed in a set amount of these titles to be given away, with a diminishing chance against the remaining pool. So while they might have shown up in every 20 bundles when there were a 1000 of them, they might only show in every 10,000 once there are just 5 left.

This is pure speculation, but they do seem to be harder to obtain than at the debut.
Oh man, that totally sucks - you'd think GOG would know better to spread them out over the life of the sale. Since I can't find five games on the sale list, I guess I'll be passing this one up. :-(

Melhelix: Looks like it's account tied, for me it's a 404.
Well, at any rate you can use this method to save rolls.

I saw that people got Aarklash. What did I get? Ittle Dew.....there is no greenlight process for GOG?
A personal observation of ten 5-pot rolls: Every single time there have been two constants. 1) 4 of the 5 games are games I already own, and 2) the game I don't own is always Alien Shooter. Always.

Well there's either a time limit for which to return to a roll, or the "rare" games have definitely been removed from the Pots. All my older rolls from back when I wasn't getting games i already own 404 now.

genkicolleen: Gift the whole order to your own email address, then give the code for the game you don't want to someone else?
avatar
Melhelix: Only if you already own the game on GOG. Gift codes on GOG are one per purchase. Thus a gift code for a purchase of five games has all five games on it. All games are redeemed automatically at the same time when the code is used. The only exception is if a person already owns a copy of the game. Then that game stays on the gift code and everything not already owned is redeemed.
Oh wow... This I did not know! Thanks so much for the info!
It would be interesting what rolls people get who already own all 4 Zombalien Shooters. Anyone?

Hmmm... I only want 4 games from this sale. If I put a game I already own as 5th game, can I pass it on after I redeemed the code?
Meaning will the game remain on the gift code and I get the other 4 games?
I always get these :

Avernum
Aqua Kitty
Giana Sisters: Rise of the Owlverlord ( wishlisted )
Ittle Dew
Penumbra ( wishlisted )
Tales from Space Mutant Blobs Attack
Last roll I got the following:

Avernum: The Complete Saga
Geneforge 1-5
Penumbra Collection
Aqua Kitty
Giana Sisters Rise of the Owl something

I have absolutely NO USE for the last two, but to get the other three for $10 I figured was a deal.

Still trying for Cognition and Memoria.

After being bestowed that luck, I was only missing two more titles from the promo (namely "Deadly Premonition" and "Deponia 3"). I kept selecting 5 pots of gold until I got the "You already own 3 of those games" message (as opposed to 4 or 5 games) and, sure enough, the games I got were "Deadly Premonition" and "Deponia 3" (and a "Cognition" gift code, which is pretty sweet). But that was 7 hours ago, I don't think I would be able to snag any of those titles now.

fronzelneekburm: I'm fairly certain that gog might have removed some of the more pricey games from the pots when they realised that people were using that little exploit to get their hands on some of the more valuable titles, while simultaneously dodging the not-so-hot titles. When I went through the selection of games a couple of hours ago, I'd constantly get games like Deadly Premonition, Cognition and Amnesia. Now I can count myself lucky if Outlast shows up.
i'd guess it was probably setup from the beginning to only have a certain number of licenses and since people meta-gamed the system to make it non-random more popular titles ran out first. if people had let it be random, with more weight given to anything on the wish list and not already owned it probably would have worked fine.

i'd hope it's a per dayish thing and will reset.

i think it's too bad because it's a fun promotional idea, but it can't work if people meta-game it. i find it to be in bad taste to talk about exploiting it on gog's own forums as it's likely costing them money, but it's their forum.
So I decided to try getting four specific games and one pot of gold to see what I would get. All three times the random game was Alien Shooter. That damn leprechaun really wants me to get Alien Shooter.

Think you could check it again? Would be really interesting if you still get all the Shooters, if you get the same games as a new account or if you actually get the BIG games.

My condolences by the way. I was sad enough to get even one of those games, I can't even imagine how you must feel.
I assume that they don't mind the conversation since they haven't shut this thread down. Despite all the talky-talking going on here, I think most members never check the forums. As you can see from my post count (and I can see from yours) this is my first foray into the forums here.
