Delixe: It can't be Activision. It just cant. It would mean me giving money to Kotick and that just ain't happening.

Maybe it would turn him good.

But KotOR's publisher is Lucasarts, not Activision. Checked it on mobygames.
KotOR still sells like hotcakes in box form and for download. I'm not saying that's a reason it WON'T be on GOG someday, I'm just saying LucasArts really doesn't need the help. Although Lucasarts would make me cheer if they moved to GOG...I'd start with the whole Dark Forces / Jedi Knight series. :D

A messenger is not named for a soldier, but precedes one. What does that mean?
You send a messenger to the enemy before a soldier, right? You'd try and make terms with the enemy, inform then that you declare war, etc. So you send notification to your enemy via messenger, and then, after that has failed, you send your soldier to attack.
A messenger precedes a soldier, that much makes sense. Sounds like a strategy game. Anybody played something that involved pre-war negotiations? Civ?
A messenger is not named for a solider. That sounds very awkward, I wonder why it was phrased that way. A dictionary offers named as "To nominate for or appoint to a duty, an office, or an honor."
To rephrase this clue: You wouldn't appoint a messenger as a solider, you'd send them out before the battle begins.
Any bells rung, gentlemen/ladies?
EDIT: Gabriel Knight sounds close to me.

So, just FYI, it's got to be Sierra.
"Messenger preceding a warrior" == Gabriel Knight.
I would squee, except I already bought the 3 Gabriel Knight games.

Final Fantasy SEVEN and Final Fantasy EIGHT. Two different characters (they were released as Final Fantasy VII and VIII). They complement each other perfectly. Cloud was a messenger, and his game took place before Squall's game, who was a soldier/mercenary. History overlaps with the present time? They're about to release Final Fantasy XIII. Also, see the plots and settings of both of those, which were steampunkish (FF7) and Futuristic (FF8). No idea on the rest of the clues...so I'm probably wrong :D

These two?
No idea on the other clues... pretty sure a game I never heard or cared about =(
Hey, guys, what did I miss? Any new hints?
I thought about series Legacy of Cain.
FF VII and FVIII absolutely no.
There weren't only two main characters.
This might be the most over-hyped digital distribution release ever.
Unfortunately, I keep checking this thread like a hawk.

Just one that shifts us from ActiBlizz to Sierra. ;)

How so? Was it a post on the forums, or a Twitter or Facebook hint?
