Weclock: the problem with most JRPGS, it's gotten to the point that the whole genre is a trope.
but to have published nothing but debasing attacks on the letter is ridiculous. I would have appreciated more thought out posts being published. if this is all those JRPG hardcores can come up with, then they themselves are just tropes.
Because, just calling people "tropes" is a well-thought out argument and not a debasing attack :p
Seriously though. I am not a huge fan of kotaku, but that is just because I am not the target demographic. I am not huge on the Japanese approach to gaming (although, we seem to overlap when it comes to the Wizardry series (and giant robot fetishes)), and that is what they are big on. It is the same reason why I love RockPaperShotgun, but most consolers would not enjoy stuff like the narrative play-through of Liberal Crime Squad.
Clearly you like some things kotaku does, but you really don't like jrpgs. We get it, so why are you getting so worked up about it? :p
And as for the Game of the Year awards:
I agree. Take your time. There are some late entrants. Is Dragon Age a better game than whatever came out earlier in the year?
One complaint I have with a lot of awards is that it is clear that late entrants get special treatment. Either they are ignored, or they get passed without much thought.
