God dammit, how do you run out of digital prizes, i'm left with 0 coal and a crap load of useless and mostly worthless coupons. Not even going to bother with the last challenges I have to get. At least I didn't waste money on getting games I didn't really want for challenges

Don't suppose anyone here is interested in anything I have here?

My god.. They really pissed in all our faces. Good thing that after spiral knight I lost my nerves and pretty much that was it.. Well, kneecap made it possible to me win a fucking coal in that. Horrible prices. it's coal or valve coupon. My brother got some worms mayhem right on.
Guess there's no reason to do the Trine achievement then. I have 10 coal, a few coupons and thankfully I won Left4Dead1 (haven't redeemed it yet) a few days ago, so all in all, I did get something.

That one's real quick, so I'd take it if I were you. After all, you could either trade the coal (there's people purchasing them...), or use it in the great give-away. Who knows, it might have been the one in a few dozen million odd ticket that gets you every single game on Steam *grins*.

I hadn't delved into Trine (nice game) and the levels weren't unlocked. I've tried savegames, but they won't work, so I don't think I'll do it in the end.

I prefer entering the lottery with my coal than crafting it now. I'd only trade it with a copy of a game released in the last 2 months, but there are more chances of me winning the lottery than someone gifting me Skyrim or MW3, so I'll take my chances. :-P

Ahh, yeah, that's a bugger.
Pity it ain't Trine 2, I'd have invited you to a coop run and went through them :(
any one wanna trade portal to another game ?
hahaha, no wonder what i got for these past 5 days were coals. I guess they should be more transparent on this matters. It's like "we only care about your money".

wormholewizards: (...)past 5 days(...)
They HAD games for a good amount of the past five days, the announcement was about yesterday and I got a game about 4 days ago.

They even publicly stated they were out of games. How could they be more transparent about it unless flat out telling you how many games there are from the very beginning (which won't be much use to you, unless you know how many are exactly won), or a concrete counter/list detailing each single game.

Does the desire for profit astonish you in a profit oriented capitalist organisation?

I'm not trying to defend Steam, but I am simply not convinced that your accusation is as bad as you make it sound.
They stated they ran out of games less than 24 hrs ago. On the forums. They put a notice on the inventory page in Steam even later.
I'm looking for Portal 2!

Very easily when you have people making several hundred accounts each to farm prizes. I saw at least 4 people with over 600 accounts EACH.

While Valve then disabled those accounts, they didn't bother to revoke the gifts and return them back to the prize pool for legitimate entrants.

And allegedly, there were only 3 million prizes to begin with.

They stated it publicly? Then i guess maybe i just missed it, i could almost swear the notice on Steam inventory wasn't there few hours ago.
I just realized about the notice from this forum as i'm not active on Steam forum.
By the way, i'm not accuse them anything, maybe i'm just disappointed not realize this sooner after just spending hours on certain achievement. In fact, i won something too a week ago. Maybe this has to do with lots of farmer creating alts for the sake of winning free games. They unintentionally hastened the process.

At least they're banned for future promotions.
I think that for a first time, think went pretty well, I only got Gratuitous Space Battles and Hacker: Evolution, but have a good time these days unlocking achievements, searching how to do them...
I actually played several games I quite enjoyed, so I'm not disapointed.
Oh, I also got a 66% off modern warfare 2, that's more that the winter sale, so I'll get ithe game tomorrow...

wormholewizards: They intentionally hastened the process.
Fixed that for you ;)
After all, they intended to grab the games others might have won instead while playing fair.
