No idea, but it is also 117 for me now. It was 116 this morning and even less yesterday.

According to FAQ on their forums, The number of points required to generate an invite dynamically changes based on site activity.

They must be experimenting with invite points. When I signed up, you needed 50 for an invite. At first I thought the number of points needed raises with every sent invite, but now I see that we have the same requirements. Also, it seems to vary during the day now.
