amok: But they want. They will use those number to increase security and implement different revenue streams to make sure they will milk the pirates also.
Yeah, they want to - and when there are no more pirates left, they'll just make up their own numbers.

thebum06: Does that number include the people who got it for free through their WoW subscription?
I don't remember honestly, probably. Since it required an annual sub though who knows what that number was.

I feel like nitpicking on examples of customers not giving a crap about DRM as long as it works is kind of hassling for no reason, really. I think that point has been proven so conclusively it's almost insulting to pretend otherwise. If you don't like the Diablo example then use Steam, Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, whatever... they don't care, as long as it works.

When it doesn't work they complain (Sim City) but companies are right in thinking the solution there is to make sure it works, not eradicate it, because customers don't care when it works.

I wish they did.
Pirates > bootleggers.

Starmaker: Pirates > bootleggers.
True that! Bootleggers don't protect us from global warming like pirates do.

I was out of internet for a while and today i've faced the ugliness of Steam. Fanboys was always defending how Offline mode works great but today i've seen with my own eyes. Steam doesnt work in oflline mode after 1 or 2 weeks. I dont know the exact time. But today i cant play my Steam games. I think i will just stop buying games on Steam.

StingingVelvet: As usual my main reason for not caring about Steam DRM is that on PC it is irrelevant. Valve blocking your game access? Get a crack. Solved.

You make it sound so easy...

I've been pirating for many, many years. Yes, it's easy.

This is the only sensible way to deal with them :)

isis12: I never had login information stored because it wasn't neccesary for offline mode and I have no idea why it should be.
Actually, you did.
Steam's offline mode was and is still DRM and for games with CEG it was using credentials stored from the last time you logged in. I guess it's lost that somehow now and that's why it's asking you to log in again. This "forgetting me" thing is a bug I've heard of in the past, so I don't think it's new to this version but rather it's only just struck you.

I'm serious. Is it okay to buy the GOG collection, then put it up at Uncle Kim's for everyone to enjoy? Probably not, right? And yet the same people who now bash Crosmando for piracy, with the notable and vocal exception of amok, deal in bootleg DRMed games, on account of them being DRMed.

Starmaker: I'm serious.
I'm not. I'm just messing around in the middle of the shitfest. I'll have to thank Sachys later for training me on poo dodging.

Crosmando: Ubisoft eventually did a 360 on that DRM.
Well someone didn't do very well at maths in school.

I couldn't help it, it made me smirk and I had the uncontrollable urge to realise that smirk in a post.
