Crosmando: I love Steam games, I get them all the time from TPB
it must feel great to be a thief.

you disgust me. at least man up for 2.5 seconds and decide not to play those games you aren't willing to pay for at all.

You disgust me

jamyskis: The PS4/Xbox One scenario has plainly shown that this claim is without merit.

mystral: The only thing the PS4/Xbox One scenario showed is that gamers are still very good at bitching about features they don't like. However, they've also repeatedly shown in the past that most of them were all talk and would still buy products they were swearing they'd never buy just a few weeks before release.

See the Modern Warfare 2, Diablo 3 or Sim City sales for proof of that.
It's likely that people would still have bought the Xbox One no matter how angry they were about the always-online thing as soon as a Halo or other big exclusive title was released on it.
Say what you want about a game like MW2 but one thing it shouldn't be criticized for is constant online DRM because it doesn't have that.

I'm pretty sure it's about this
Trust the word Steam to derail a thread like usual. Just like piracy, politics, religion, DRM, DLC... you get the point.
I think they are copying Xbox One DRM (before they cancelled). Where there is a 24 hour check-in. If your computer cant "check-in" with the Steam network, then you cant play your games. Im concerned because there may be times where i dont have internet access for a week or more :(
The Offline mode has always been a issue for me , as it works only if you set it to be in offline mode , and then it can stay in offline mode But we cant predict when net failures can happen and ie crashes .

So in my experience steam offline mode is broken when
1) you crash the client / force close it
2) if you are in client beta , it will try to check for update and fail to go offline

The offline mode works fine when
1) you choose the option to go offline aka steam->offline mode, i played in this mode for months
2) opt to save your log in info + automatically login (when you properly close the client ) it will go in offline mode if no net is present on next launch

I have contacted , steam support over this as well as their twitter support , they know there is a problem with it

The OP is long gone, if you don't reply to him directly he'll never know

StingingVelvet: Unlike the mythical Xbox One data we don't have we do have a clear image of how well people accept online DRM: Diablo 3's ten million copies sold, despite widespread reporting on the requirement and people like me bitching about it. Best selling PC game of all time.
Does that number include the people who got it for free through their WoW subscription?

So you've not actually read the thread then

Yep, not many words are more divisive than Steam on this forum.

thebum06: Does that number include the people who got it for free through their WoW subscription?
It doesn't. It's over 12 million copies overall (including 1.2 million people who got it with the YEARLY subscription to WoW), 3.5 million sold within 24h. No way you can spin this into irrelevance.

Kristian: Say what you want about a game like MW2 but one thing it shouldn't be criticized for is constant online DRM because it doesn't have that.
No, it doesn't, but unless you have a really bad memory, you'll remember there was a huge outcry prior to its release about its lack of dedicated servers, with lots of CoD fans swearing they'd never buy the game. Come release, if you checked the Steam profiles of most of those people, it turned out that they had actually bought the game.

The simple fact of the matter is that most gamers like to get angry about things they don't like in their favourite games, but they still buy them no matter what.

I hated Resident Evil 6 and I have not bought it :P
Woah, a lot of low-rated posts are flying around here.
