Well - the transaction went through - however the Doom Collection which was in my Cart was re-priced to normal Quake Con Pricing instead of the 75% off. Too bad for those looking to get it in an upcoming giveaway ;-(

Bad news - but i doubt anybody can / will object! :)
No biggie on the missed sale but maybe check again on the last day and there's a chance it *could* be 75% off again. I think this ends Monday with a different series on sale daily with a potential encore day at the end.

And as others said before me, with Steam you can buy multiple games in one transaction and not have to worry about a single key like here with GOG. The game(s) either go in your library if you want to keep them or in your inventory if you want to trade or gift them. I generally put all new purchases in my inventory till I'm ready to play them but I do that with GOG too. Welcome to Steam and let us know if you have more questions :).
The lack of consumer-friendliness of some DD services is truly baffling. It may be little, but it's still costing Steam business :(

GOG does the same thing as do hundreds of other online companies so its not Steam exclusive and most likely not costing that much loss in business since consumers should be used to it in this day. I've bought multiple things from GOG in a short span of time so I can have separate keys and in the midst of that have had to stop and let my bank know its ok. At least Steam lets me do it all in one transaction so to me that's consumer friendly. And making it ok with your bank is just consumer protection more than lack of consumer friendliness and while it may take some extra time, I'm glad it happens in case my card number were ever to get stolen.

Was referring to the price reverting. They can certainly afford some rain-check-like mechanism that helps customers get what they want at the price they want, especially when payment hitches occur. It's happened to me, too, and it has cost them business.

Ah yes, that makes sense. Not defending Steam regarding price reverting by any means but that particular sale for Doom 3 was over by the time the bank situation got sorted and Steam had no way of knowing Lou was trying to make that purchase unless he contacted them. And in that case, I think Steam would have honored the sale price as I remember reading posts on their forums during the summer sale that said they honored sale prices if people had certain specified issues with purchasing games while on sale. A bank hold being one of those specific issues.

Don't know if that was exclusive to the summer sale or not or if they do it on a regular basis so I suppose myself or someone in this thread could have suggested to Lou to contact their support. Only problem with that is they do take a LONG time to respond, unlike GOG in that regard. So in the grand scheme, may or may not be worth it to Lou to try that. I personally figured better to just wait for the last day and see if its on sale again.
