PLEASE NOTE: I don't think they're actually taking the games from GoG, they're just releasing the same one's and doing it badly. I've noticed recently that Steam is releasing games that are available on GoG... and big surprise they're charing more money. They released MDK/MDK2 on steam today and the double pack is 15 bucks... Why would anyone ever buy it on steam when you can buy both for 12 on GoG... Silly steam!

It's not just the price ;)
DRM Free
Few Extras (soundtracks etc.)
and the GoG team puttting their time into it so it works well no matter what.
e.g the use of emulators (DOSbox and ScummVM)
Steam are only selling what the publishers give them to sell. So perhaps you should aim some of your complaint at them.

Because, like a lot of... no. Like all popular sites, it attracts legions of morons. But if morons want to blow more money on defective, inferior versions then by all means let them.
Its also an exposure thing. Are people putting MDK or Fallout into google to see where they can buy it at the best price or are they preexisting steam users who see it on sale there, think its pretty cheap and just buy it without further research?

Yeah, but why do that when you can just bash steam, amirite?
Also have in mind that in Europe prices are in Euro. So its even more expensive.

I never was actually bashing steam... I have a bunch of games on steam (about 150 to be exact). So, I'm not exactly bashing or hating... Don't assume things... you know the old saying.

Ouch! How much are they in euros, I'm kind of afraid to ask :P

Another way of looking at it: if people weren't buying then Steam wouldn't be selling, so may as well blame the consumers while we're at it.

After being on the Steam boards for quite some time, I would have to say the latter is true. There are more than a few people who make all of their game purchases on Steam, even if it is available somewhere else cheaper. They will even not buy a game until it's available on Steam.

The infamous 1$=1€
Pretty much what costs 49.99 USD for Americans is 49.99EUR for us, but there were another failures too, like Quantum of Solace about 24.99 USD -> 44.99 EUR
