Okay, I haven't actually figured the workings of this out yet, but you know how most offices organise a Secret Santa at this time of year?

Everyone who signs up buys something for another person who has signed up (drawn at random) and everyone receives a gift.

Why don't we do something like that with GOGs?

I'm happy to organise it if people are interested, and any suggestions about how to make the gifters unknown would be welcome!

The only way I can figure out is if all gift codes are sent to one person who then distributes them at random to everyone who has signed up. The only problem there being if someone is gifted a game they already own ...

Ok, here's how it's going to work.

1*. List 5 games you would be interested in receiving - I have a spreadsheet to keep track of people's selections;

2. I will contact you and let you know who you are gifting for and give you a choice of 5 games (this will be done randomly within the group you have been placed in) - this will be done on Sunday 19th December;

3. Buy the game you have chosen and gift it to gog-secretsanta2010(at)electricjungle(dot)org (you can include a message if you wish, but your name / username will not be included) - deadline for this is December 21st - this gives us a few days to make sure everyone will receive a gift;

4. Receive your gift from the GOG Secret Santa on December 24th!

* For step 1 above, you can either post in this thread or contact me via GOG PM, Steam - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197998046337 - or email - nicholasmillar(at)hotmail(dot)com

Your email address should be picked up when you send the gift to the GOG Secret Santa, but if you're worried you can always contact me in any of the ways outlined above. I'm also happy to answer any questions you may have.

hmm... you could have every player who wants to participate post their wishlist and e-mail or PM nick. Then you sort the names of the participants at random and tell them who they have to send gift codes to via email or PM. Gifts could be sent through e-mail accounts created for the ocasion.

The wishlist guarantees they get games they don't own, though no one guarantees someone won't send a gift but receive one anyway.

Good idea.
If I may suggest send all codes to me. I am already packed and ready to leave for Mexico.
No, really, good idea. I may participate.

Actually, thinking about it, doesn't the checkout process ask you to enter a name when you're gifting? That would make the "secret" bit work, I think ...

That's why I suggested sending all the codes to one trusted person, who could then distribute a gift to everyone who has actually bought a gift for someone else.

I'll think we'll work something out. How does 25% sounds to you?

You can write whatever you want into the name so it should work. But I am not sure, doesn't it show also e-mail?

Heres a suggestion. Everyone who wants to participate puts his games or wishlist. Each person gets a number. Then some one who wont buy anything makes a draw with those numbers and notifies each person via the gogPM thing. Also each person should also either give the email to the drawmaster or put it here.
I'm happy to be the "central" person if you decide to do it that way.

Not sure what I could have done to be regarded as "trusted", but my give-away should indicate I have no interest in "stealing" the codes or anything like that.

Hope I can help! :)
Sounds like a great idea. Count me in.
Yup, count me in, nice suggestion, nmillar!
I would suggest grabbing a Monk as the distributor of gift codes. Sounds right up their...habit :P
I'm interest, count me in too :)
If it's not too late - Me too! :)
The beauty with this is it doesn't matter how few / many participate as everyone will receive a gift from someone else regardless. We just need to pick a price point and a date for the gifting to take place.

I presume by "participating" you mean exchanging codes and such.
I'm happy to participate, unless you decide to go for the "central" person and participating interferes with that (unless you choose someone else, obviously :) )
