Rogue Galaxy, Xeno(gears/saga/blade), Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy VII+VIII+XIII, Star Ocean series

yeah, these area all console RPGs but everyone already named all the Western RPGs I know so I figured I'd try something different :P
If you have a Nintendo DS: "Infinite Space"

Its a JRPG (I usually avoid these) and the protagonist starts as a kid/very young teen (I usually loathe these) on a platform I got for the occasional long travel (I usually never play these at home). I'd call this game one of my if not the best investments on console games and it got me to play it long after I went home (but at least in front of the [turned off] PC :D ).
anything star wars is usually of high quality. i love all star wars, not just rpgs. but the rpgs are particularly good too, my nephew played that mmo that came out recently, he says its the best hes ever played. of course, then guild wars two came out, and now guild wars is the best hes ever played. next it will be elder scrolls mmo...on and on.

but my point is, lucas created quiet a legacy.

if thats been said before, this is me agreeing with them.
Speaking of Star Wars: I never got into KOTOR, partly due to not being a Star Wars fan (I don't dislike it, I'm just neutral), but it also just felt a bit bland, and it never really grabbed me. How's KOTOR2?

Well, it looks and plays like KOTOR, but in terms of general tone and how they make use of the Star Wars licence, they are two fundamentally different games. Hence the controversy surrounding them. KOTOR is largely what people would expect from a Star Wars RPG. KOTOR 2 is not, because it questions many things about the Jedi, the Sith and the Force in general that Star Wars fans usually take for granted. It's basically Anti-Star Wars. That and it takes quite a few jabs at the first game and RPG tropes in general. Which is probably why I liked it so much.

Another problem is the unfinished state it was released in, so IF you're going to play it you might wanna take a look at this restoration mod, which restores a lot of cut content and makes the game feel more complete.

That sounds much more appealing to me, I'll definitely pick it up at some point. :)
No joke: my first thought was "Why did he post a link to an error message?"

If you can find a copy of it Nomad is fun enough (I killed so many hours on this game as a kid, playing it in the car on a laptop I picked up for $20)
Hello,

if you are still looking for space rpgs, you could give Faster then light a quantum ray shot. It is a game about space ships in space, with strong rpg elements. It was released today here on gog.com.

Have a nice weekend

And here I was, thinking it's going to be about space ships on the ground.
FTL is supposedly the most fun game ever made. in fact, i heard it was better to play FTL for five minutes, then to live an eternity in paradise with all the woman and great food you could ever want.

...i myself have never played it...
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it here yet, but Might & Magic series is actually a sci-fi game. The same goes to Wizardry and Ultima series. They're masking it pretty hard though.
