Is it real? Honestly I can't tell if it's a joke or if it's real. I mean I have heard anything new lately so it seems fake but it's so cool that I want it to be real... Anybody?
Wait, what? Are you looking at that news/thread that was posted on the first of April or am I missing something?

:( that would be so cool lol... I thought it was but there was a little glimmer of hope that it might be real :/
Maybe we should add it to the wishlist?
Any chances that GOG would make it ;-)

It's not all bad. We still have Wolfenstein 1-D.

On a grumpier note it's a shame there isn't a way of "retromating" gameplay in some instances to make remakes play more like the originals, e.g. the new X-Com could keep the new graphics but be "retromated" to play like the original games. It wouldn't be as funny but it would be oh so welcome.

Why? What do you miss?
I haven't even played the new one, I'll admit it, but just reading the user reviews on Metacritic puts me off.

I have only played the demo, but from that the game seems way simplified. It was a lot of fun, but it just made me go and play the original instead. Action points, inventory, and random maps are all things I consider essential in an X-COM clone. Then an actual remake came a long and got rid of it all.

Yes, this is what I've heard. It's called "streamlining" I think, but this is just a euphemism for what is usually called "dumbing down". I've no doubt it's a decent game in its own right but if the originals had all the same stuff and more then having enjoyed the originals so much I think I could only be disappointed with the new game. Perhaps I'll try it when it's cheaper but unless the gameplay can somehow be "retromated" I think I'll pass for now.
'Main-streaming' I think, but you're the british one, you know better ;)

I've never heard "mainstream" used as a verb but tailoring games to please the more mainstream / casual gamer is what I understand "streamlining" to REALLY mean sometimes when I read it in the context of the way a game has been / is being developed. "Streamlining" is supposed to mean "to make less resistant and more efficient", but often in the context of games development this is merely a less offensive way of saying, "We're removing a whole slew of the more complex game mechanics from the original and simplifying the game overall in order to create less resistance to people buying it from us, thus making it a more efficient cash cow for us". It's typical gobbledygook / politico-speak.
