Shadow of Chernobyl + Clear Sky + Call of Pripyat up to 70% off!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, the phenomenally immersive FPS survival horror series set in the terrifyingly believable radioactive "Zone" surrounding the explosion site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, is available up to 70% off on GOG.com. That's only $14.97 for the set of three for the next 72 hours.

Not many people truly understand what it means to be a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. We're Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers. Basically, what each of us is, is a bit of a soldier, a bit of a thief, a bit of a hunter, a bit of a nutjob, and a full-time basterd. Imagine what's happening in our heads. The Zone is calling for us ahead, new locations and unknown threats, spatial holes and monsters hiding in the fog, pitch-black nights and saving rays of a rising sun. You try to avoid anomalies and hide from blowouts, discover the Zone and collect artifacts, cure radioactive irradiation and fight for any stalker faction you like! This is the life, right? If only it didn't end so promptly, ever so often.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series delivers one of the most immersive and enthralling experiences in the history of first-person shooters. Calling it a "shooter", however, might be a bit of a stretch. The games' focus leans mostly towards exploration and stealth. In most cases, it's best to avoid encounters rather than face the dangers head-on. The Chernobyl exclusion zone is full of things that could kill you in an eyeblink. Strange creatures, physics-defying phenomena, not to mention the other men bold or insane enough to venture into the heart of eastern-european Twilight Zone. The competition is ruthless, as the prizes are great--the fascinating artifacts found in the forbidden land yield unbelievable prizes on the black market. If you think you have what it takes to become one of the fabled S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, the whole story of the Chernobyl Zone opens before you: the original Shadow of Chernobyl, the prequel Clear Sky, and the sequel Call of Pripyat. All three games come with high-quality soundtracks encoded in lossless FLAC format.

For the next 72 hours, that is until Sunday, February 9, at 10:59 GMT, you can get the entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series 70% off, that is for only $14.97. Separately, the games come with 50% off discount for that time.

EDIT:
Now, that the release special offer has expired, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are priced at $19.99, $9.99, and $19.99 for Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat respectively. A permanent 20% off series discount still applies, if you get all three at the same time.
Just bought these as a gift for someone else. But instead of getting a gift code, the games were all added to my account. Makes me wonder what the "Is this a gift?" checkbox is for if it's ignored.
Thanks for your answers! I might wait for a better discount since the games itself are "just" 50% off each. Wishlisted Call of Pripyat for now.

Wurzelkraft: How much actual "survival" is in the STALKER games? Do you have to eat/drink/sleep for example?
avatar
JudasIscariot: In vanilla STALKER eating helps to restore health while drinking (vodka) clears away radiation and sobriety :D

AFAIK, you don't HAVE to eat or drink but it's fun :D
You do have to eat every once in awhile, at least in SoC and CoP. In CoP I think it just affects how quickly your stamina drops. In SoC it might affect your health? I'm not sure.

NoNewTaleToTell: As far as games in a similar style and setting, I have both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas but just can't manage to immerse myself in them. Would anybody be so kind as to do a quick pros/cons list of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games and how they compare to Fallout 3/Fallout New Vegas?
They are pretty different games, honestly. The RPG elements in STALKER are minimal. No leveling up, no classes. You have an inventory, you can use "artifacts" and different armor to up certain stats, and can take many quests at once. That's about it. The STALKER games put a larger emphasis on FPS combat, and the combat is fairly realistic and brutal. There are also some light survival elements. You have to eat every once in awhile, you have to deal with radiation and anomolies, etc. And as Ormenelle points out, the worlds are very different. Fallout 3/NV are more cartoony and stylized, while the STALKER games are dark and grim. I've never really been a fan of the newer Fallout games, but STALKER is my favorite series of all time.

On a different note, I just want to mention that I don't really like the Complete mod, at least for SoC. It changes some things about the original game that I think are detrimental to the experience. The enhanced visuals take away some of the strange, cold atmosphere of the original and make some areas far too bright and happy. The rebalanced difficulty turns long range firefights into glorified target practice. Also, while the addition of a sleeping bag and the ability to repair items may make realistic sense, there's a lot to be said for forcing you to muscle through nights and scavenge for weapons and equipment. The Zone Reclamation Project is my go-to mod for SoC. CS Complete seems a little better. CoP Complete is mostly a graphical upgrade (the core gameplay is mostly untouched), although some people report that it makes the game more unstable.

OldFatGuy: ...
Would you believe I posted the code for the entire series over 7 hours ago and it's not taken???

Well, it's true.
Pardon me for asking, but where? I've just been having a look back through the posts in this thread and didn't find it. Nor could I find a post in the Stalker forums, or in the Community threads.

Hmm, there are some issues with two of the tracks in the Shadow of Chernobyl soundtrack provided here (both FLAC and MP3 versions): The end of track 12 is cut off and track 13 begins with the cut off part from track 12.

Also for anyone interested, there are additional tracks from the Shadow of Chernobyl OST available for download here (unfortunately only in MP3 format)

Edit: Loaded both tracks in Audacity to show what I mean (top tracks are from GOG version of the soundtrack, bottom tracks are from the OGG versions on the STALKER website)

Cheers for that. I tried using the GOG forum search for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but that thread wasn't one of the hits.

Shouldnt be ignored, else contact staff they can fix it for you.

I contacted support. Got a follow up email for more information. Sent that. And then nothing. Was hoping to get this fixed before the sale ended.

TommyTime: Yeah, good point.

Phasmid: GSC Gameworld, according to the game card. They didn't go bust and the company still exists unlike, say, THQ. They just cancelled Stalker 2 and aren't (so far as we know) making games any more.

(And presumably GOG will get some money as well...)
Indeed they don't make games anymore. In fact the company that exists nowadays is a shell of its former self, with many of its members moving on to form Vostok Games and 4A Games. Therefore, if we buy this game now, I feel that none of the money will go to the people that actually made it.

Their office are probably close at this time and I'm not sure if it is possible to receive support during the weekend. But do not worry, I'm quite sure they can change the status of the games in your inventory to gift as long as you do not download them.

Yes, we are done working for the day but I believe there will be someone take care of some support requests Saturday :)

That may be so. But the person who wants them, doesn't want to miss the deal. If this isn't sorted out before then, he'll be buying them himself. Then I'll have to try and get a refund =/

Hope so. As we really need this sorted out before the sale ends.
