Urban planner's single-player offline paradise!

SimCity™ 4 Deluxe Edition, the fan-favorite iteration in the long line of legendary urban planning simulations with a myriad of design options and factors to tweak and track, creating the ultimate sense of life-like complexity, is available 75% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the next 72 hours! Includes the Rush Hour expansion pack.

It all started 30 years ago, in 1984. An up-and-coming brilliant game designer by the name of Will Wright created an incredibly believable virtual city that astound the gamers with its level of detail and the amount of little things that were constantly happening in it. The city, though, served only the purpose of an interesting background to an action-focused title, Raid on Bungeling Bay. It would surely feel like a waste to see such a sophisticated simulation only as a "bells-and-whistles" addition. Luckily, 5 years later, Will Wright gave the gaming world the first SimCity game. The one we offer you today, the fourth--and according to many gamers, the best--part of the series is the result of almost a quarter of century worth of a concept's evolution.

In SimCity™ 4 Deluxe Edition you don't just build your city, you breathe life into it. Create a megalopolis by weaving together a tapestry of cities ranging from a bedroom community to a high tech urban center or a vacation destination to a farming village. You can create a region of interconnected cities sharing and competing for resources that are linked by a fully integrated transportation network. Use "god-like" powers to create mountain ranges, carve valleys, and lay rivers to construct the most realistic metropolis imaginable. The new simulation engine offers immediate feedback so you can react to the needs of an expanding metropolis. Now individual buildings and their lots provide you with feedback. Use the My Sim features to personalize your Sim and immediately move him or her into any area and watch them experience life around town and get instant feedback on the city's progress. Each decision has a greater impact and gives you the ability to respond more effectively. The DRM-Free Deluxe Edition offered here, comes complete with the Rush Hour expansion, for an even more in-depth urban experience!

Every game in this great series offers the player hundreds of hours of fun and easily adjustable challenge to create a sense of immersion in a living, breathing metropolis. They all come with their very own special flavor, but most gamers agree that SimCity™ 4 Deluxe Edition is the most delicious dish of them all. Grab it now, on GOG.com, for only $4.99! Remember to hurry, because the 75% release discount offer lasts for 72 hours only, that is until Sunday, June 1, at 9:59AM GMT.
A little late to the party, but ... great release. And for that price I'll buy it right away.

serpantino: So if that's the case does gog no longer consider a 2003 game to be a good old game? In which case what is the new year for a good old game... or has gog now gone back on their pricing policy with good old games?
avatar
yyahoo: You know, this is a great idea. Maybe if you complain enough about GOG breaking its word, then they will reconsider their decision and remove Sim City 4 from its catalog since they can't make it available at a regular price of $9.99 or less...

SMH...
It's another concession from gog's values that's the issue. I don't want publishers thinking they can get away with upping the prices to an average of $19.99 for old games, if you do then more fool you.

Telvas: Wow, at last! :D <insta_buy> Just one sad question: where is polish language? :( Polish version was very good and fun. That would made the game more accessible for kids.
It has polish language. Just run language setup before game and voila

JudasIscariot: Again, we can't control the price but we do consider a 2003 an old or a classic game :)

We do our best to keep the prices low for classics but we can only do so much before we're faced with a an either-or decision.
I figured as much. It may be a blessing in disguise in continuing to bring Good Old Games to the cutting board without being handcuffed by rigid $6/$10 price-points (which no longer applies to new "indies"). Like, I imagine Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines will finally be able to hit GOG's digital shelves since Activision refuses to budge on its $20 price. Maybe even the old Call of Duty games can find a place here...I can certainly dream!

And maybe it'll tempt some other publishers like Microsoft Game Studios to allow their old back-catalog to be re-configured for modern OSes and sold.

As for the penny-pinchers around here, we can just wait for promo sales, which are never in short supply, including on launch day.

Also, weekend sales. Those are always nice. c:
Oh, come on people quit whining you have several games on gog that are around 19.99$ and are 10 or a bit less years old.

For example:

Stalker Shadows of Chernoybl 7 years old 19.99$
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 10 years old 19.99$
Never Winter Nights 2 - 8 years old 19.99$

This pricing is nothing new here. Get over it. Just buy it in a sale if you like. You have a nice opportunity now if you buy it for 4.99$ or 3.83€.

Either way thanks gog for 3 releases today. You are upping your standards a lot today :)

The only "value" that concerns me about GOG is what titles they can bring to us DRM free. Each user will decide what price point each game needs to be at in order to influence them to make a purchase. And considering *everything* eventually goes on sale, the only people who ever have to pay "full price" are the ones that just can't wait to play. And that choice is on them.

I just find it funny that you're choosing this game, the one providing a discount for the first *three* days, to attempt to make your point about values. The opening price is less than either of the $9.99 or $5.99 price points that you insist that GOG adhere to. Me? A fool? Nah... I'm paying $4.99 for it.
Wow, it's selling so fast and going up in bestselling titles list - happy to see that :-)

BTW, is there any reason I don't see latest Tex Murphy game in bestselling list?

Probably because people are waiting for a sale on it? :D

No, I mean in a whole list, scrolled down to the bottom there is no Tesla Effect.

Refresh and try again, sometimes that list goes wonky for me and displays a game twice...

Ctrl+F5 fixed the list, false alarm then. Thanks! :)
