Screencheat pays homage to iconic competitive first-person shooters such as Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Halo, by blending the elements everyone loves about those games and shaking it up with its own unique take on the genre. When everyone’s used to playing by the rules, can you adapt to unconventional gaming quick enough to get the upper hand? Be ready for chaotic split-screen multiplayer shooter that forces players to rethink the way they approach conventional multiplayer games. In the Screencheat arena, fast reaction times aren’t enough to keep you alive. When everyone is invisible, players will have to master the art of taking a not-so sneaky look at their opponent’s screens and working out where they are based on uniquely coloured areas of the map and distinctive landmarks.

Eight original wacky weapons, five clever colorful maps, and many friedship-breaking feuds await you in Screencheat, for only $13.49 on GOG.com. The special 10% off release discount offer lasts until Thursday, October 30, at 12:00PM GMT.

This looks like a lot of fun and I sure hope that the community isn't going to wither away. That is the one thing that makes me hesitate when it comes to multiplayer-only games, will they still be played by a sizeable number of players in a year's time? Or were they just the flavour of the week. Maybe if GOG can get this title under the Galaxy umbrella, it might actually help, since GOG does not offer many multiplayer games (yet).
Hey all,

The Linux version of Screencheat is now available :) Sorry for the delay on that one :)

To be honest, with Screencheat, unless they do some major content updates, I sincerely doubt it. A meager 5 maps, most of which don't make sense structurally, multiplayer-only, and a lot of reliance on gimmicky silliness to be fun makes me think it'll die out pretty quickly.

vicklemos: Exactly what I needed to hear! I believe we truly need more of these nowadays, with the market bombarded with individualistic games.
Do you mean a truckload of fun as in Timesplitters 2 fun or Goldeneye fun!? :) Both?

edit: can you tell me, sir, what was your setup? big tv? lan, split screen?
controllers (x360, I presume), mouse + keyboard?

Firek: I have played neither Timesplitters nor Goldeneye, so my answer would have to be: yes. ;)

We played over a network on our own machines, on keyboards and mice. This as especially cool since we had to scream taunts at each others across the office, as we were spread out across three rooms. :D Luckily, it was late in the afternoon and we were the only ones left. ;)
I'm pretty sure the QA folk later tried the actual splitscreen mode on inferior controllers :P but I wasn't part of that.
Best post of the year! :)
It's always nice to see people having true fun nowadays! Thanks for the tip on this cool game :)

Just for those of you who'd like to see more of the game.
After spending some time with this game it's a lot of fun, makes a great local multiplayer game, just like the old days! However there are no servers online so I've yet to see any online activity. I'm also wondering how often the GOG version will be updated. I see the steam version was updated yesterday with a new map, etc. Are there people online in that version?

Really wanna play this online, people buy this and get online!

It would be a better plan to ask this in the Screencheat forums.
P.S. You're necroing a month old thread. :P
Maybe once galaxy comes into play you'll have more luck finding online players on GOG. As it stands, I wouldn't hold my breath.
