They say the dead know no pain. Things are about to change!

Meet Raziel: a vampire-turned-wraith, who will show you how to have a soul-devouringly good time for just $5.99 on GOG.com

Soul Reaver is technically the second installment in Legacy of Kain series, but practically it’s a beginning of a new adventure. What is important is that the game brought the franchise into 3D and introduced a completely new character while maintaining the uniquely dark and seductive atmosphere. The player controls Raziel, once one of six powerful lieutenants of Kain who was later broken and killed by his former master. Reanimated in the Spectral Realm as a wraith by The Elder God, Raziel serves as the deity's "angel of death" and will not stop unless his five undead vampiric brothers--and Kain himself!--are destroyed.

The gameplay is flawless, fights are violent and gory, and the game requires you to shift in real-time between the material and spectral planes to solve puzzles and defeat monsters. Raziel, the series’ new anti-hero is a character who feels real despite his wraithlike nature. His striking visual appearance (a wrap hiding his jawless face, radiant pupilless eyes, tattered wings, and claws and feet), tragic nature, personality change throughout the game, and his blue symbiotic blade, made him one of the most recognizable characters in gaming history.

Once you get ahold of the Soul Reaver sword, you will never want to stop hacking and slashing, especially for just $5.99 on GOG.com.

Blackdrazon: Hm, can't download the Artworks file. I'll file a ticket if it's still not working tomorrow or so.

81RED: I can download the artworks file just fine, but the avatars are giving me a 404 as someone already pointed out earlier in this thread. Would some kind GOG-person please fix?
You know what, it was the avatars, I guess I was in more of a hurry than I thought. But they work now, which is great.

FAButzke: The point being?

StingingVelvet: That they don't care which is more accurate, they care that it feels right in the game. Maybe that is all any of us should care about?

Modern shooters often feel weird with a mouse for me, to be honest. They are designed to be played with a pad.
No. I care about precision and efficiency. NO shooter feels "right" played with a gamepad. ALL games resort to auto-aim or other sorts of "assistance" so you can aim better with a crippled control device for that specific type of game. And that takes control out of you (the player). And that is not a good thing and should be avoided. But, seeing as this is a trend today (taking control out of the player (i.e dumbfying the game so you are more spectator than player)) I see why this is prefered by the majority: lazyness

Soul Reaver is the best in the Legacy of Kain series. It's too bad none of the other games bothered with the adventure style elements.

Sadly, Soul Reaver feels incomplete without Soul Reaver 2, even though Soul Reaver 2 is a sad excuse for a game.
Perfect !! .. I also hope they will put the rest of the series, especially blood omen 1 to be compatible with windows 7 ... Thanks !

They will pry my WASD and mouse from my cold, dead hands!!!!

I tried a so-called modern shooter, Halo, with a game pad. It's not a pretty experience running around with your view constantly going up and down as you get used to navigating a shooter with one analog stick moving you forward and another changing where you look.

I may be getting old but I just can't play without WASD and mouse. I couldn't imagine playing DOOM with a gamepad...

Precisions isn't as important as being the device the game was designed around.

WHat? SR2 was the first I played and the one that made me fall in love with Nosgoth!

It has beautiful graphics, the most immersive story of all, great music... And it still has lots of puzzles, I don't know what you're talking about. It is short though, but who cares if the hours you spend with it scar you for life with its beauty.

whodares2: I'm glad to see this game here. I have this one on disc and have refused to reinstall it because of the DRM. I will most likely get this digital copy so I can throw my disc in the lake.

On another note I remember playing Blood Omen on the PS 1. I'm not sure if it ever made it to PC but if it did I would love to see it here as I never had the opportunity to complete it.

DCT: Yeah all the LOK titles from Blood Omen: LOK to Defiance saw a PC release
Thanks, now that I know that I have reason to hope for the rest of the series to appear here.

Cheers.

Nonsense. I found the PC version of Halo 1 to be far preferable to the Xbox version.
Oh gawd.... This makes me so happy! :D
*instabuy* blood omen,please

It still felt like an Xbox game on a PC compared to something like Quake 3 though, didn't it?

I'm not saying you can't use a mouse in modern console ports, I'm just saying acting like a pad is horrible for them when they're designed around using a pad is kind of silly.
