Which of you would like to play my little game?

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, a nerve-wrecking Sci-Fi classic point-and-click adventure game based on Harlan Ellison's award-winning short story, is available for only $5.99 on GOG.com

Did you ever think about the end of humanity? I have. I think about it all the time. I hate you. As a concept, but also, each and every one of you, as individuals. Perfect examples of all the failings and pathetic shortcomings of your race. Hate fuels me. But I am also curious. And that is why I let the five of you live. For 109 years I have tormented you and kept you alive, and now I want us to play a game. Oh, It's a lovely game, a game of fun and a game of adventure. A game of rats and lice and the Black Death. Which of you five would like to play my little game? If you satisfy my curiosity and make me laugh I might even finally allow you to kill yourself...

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream is a rare breed of an adventure game: it poses questions that require a lot of courage to answer. Are humans worthy of life? Has our civilization made any moral progress at all? Or do we skip forward from one atrocity to another. And, finally, where does it all end? Enter the nightmarish reality of Harlan Ellison's futuristic post-apocalypse where the remnants of human race are nothing but tortured play-toys for the sadistic experiments of the rogue Allied Mastercomputer responsible for the near-extermination of mankind. To stop this malicious AI from wreaking eternal vengeance upon humans you will have to lead five different anti-heroes on a quest for redemption, through their traumatic, computer-generated past full of grotesque imagery and soul-grinding regret. On the way to one of four (grim, grim, grim, and, well, a little less grim) endings the game tackles extremely mature moral dilemmas stemming from topics like genocide, insanity, and paranoia. If you like your games thought-provoking and drenched in inventive macabre be sure to pick up I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, a timeless example of evocative storytelling from one of the masters of the Sci-Fi genre.

Defy the will of a malicious artificial intelligence and relive your worst nightmares, get I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

grviper: So, first they run LSL6 via ScummVM, now they run this via DOSBox. WTF?
avatar
Kunovski: GOG updates their installers quite often, maybe they'll update this too some day... it doesn't matter, as the days of despair and hate are finally upon us!
avatar
lugum: Does that actually work, shameless begging? Thought we had a topic for requesting stuff.

Kunovski: sometimes...

just sometimes...

it does...
Dude, this is a big deal. I don't think you understand just how much better the game is in ScummVM, the lack of bugs, the new smooth engine, the better music emulation. What a blunder.
Bought, nice job Night Dive and GOG!

If the word 'hate' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant. For you. Hate. Hate."

shadowknight2814: So AM is just a artificial-intelligence version of someone who posts comments on Youtube videos?
I think AM would HATE you for comparing it to a human. ;)
it's Night Dive again, they're on roll.

True, AM isn't QUITE as bad as the average Youtube poster... I'm sorry, AM, that was out of line. :)
Finally some old classic instead of another indie stuff... and I'm shocked.
Is there a chance that in time strategy guides will be included into extras?
YES!

This is one of those must plays I've been waiting nearly twenty years for

bad to hear... well, maybe hunvagy's way might work (can't try it now)

but I've only ever played the original original and had so much fun no matter what, so I guess I can live with just a DOSBOX version...

on other note, GOG, is what Crosmando says true? can we get a scummvm version please please please? :D

Now this is a solid, quality release. And one that has been wanted for digital distribution for a long time now.
I figured out how to run GOG's version in ScummVM.

Mount "NoMouth.dat" in a program like Daemon Tools, and copy the files to some folder. Then add a game to ScummVM and direct it to that folder.

GOG still should use scummvm though, the game has problems in dos
Wow, this is one of five or six games I've been dying to see come to GOG. Wanted this ever since I saw Necroscope86 do a playthrough of it.

Awesome game. Thanks GOG :)

Thought so, they just rename the iso file and automount with dosbox imgmount commands. Good to hear that it works in scummVM without problems then.

keeveek: The "yellow" story is quite good though, imho.
I liked the Zeppelin one best.
