Heroes of Might and Magic V Bundle, which includes both of the game’s expansions (Hammer of Fate and Tribes of the East), is a glorious return to classic fantasy turn-based strategy that every HoMM-fan will love and is now available on GOG.com--for a limited time!--buy one, get one free with Assassin’s Creed Director’s Cut for a total of $19.99.

This is one of the two new “Premium Edition” games that GOG.com is offering; they are a slightly higher price--but they come packed with value and we’re encouraging you to try them out with this buy one, get one free promotion that’s running until 12 April at 4.59 PM GMT.

Rumors of the fifth part of the famous series created by a new developer under the wings of a new publisher caused quite a stir among die-hard fans of Angles, Dragons, and Titans. Luckily, the developers made sure that the old concepts which made the series successful in the first place were maintained. Heroes of Might and Magic V returns to familiar territory; the charm of the classic game is omnipresent, the gameplay is addictive, and the execution is splendid.

We return to well-known world of HoMM in control of Haven, Inferno, Necropolis, Dungeon, Sylvan, Academy, Fortress, or Stronghold. The game features a completely new scenario, arguably the most interesting in the series, along with new spells, new units and new creatures skills. The towns now look majestic and grand in full 3D, the units move and attack beautifully, huge spells convey a sense of massively destructive power, and the combat is great fun to play and crafted to perfection; even tiny details like splashing water on the shore are apparent in the game. The music adapts to the situation perfectly, and sound is filled with the little touches that show the care the developers lavished on this game, touches like shouts of joy, screams of death, and the sadistic laughter of demons.

Heroes of Might and Magic V is surely the version you’ve been waiting for a long time, and it’s finally here on GOG.com with more than 170 minutes of soundtracks, an official artbook, wallpapers, avatars, design sketches, and more. Its full price is $19.99, but pick it up for a limited time together with Assassin’s Creed: Director’s Cut Edition on a special introductory buy one, get one free sale!

Bouli: No, but this game has been on sale about 10 times during the last 3 years. So it's hard not to have noticed it, especially for a GOG.com customer who is, by definition, someone who knows where to find the good deals. Not to mention Ubisoft released about one year ago a retail HOMM complete collection (all HOMM + expansions) for only $10. And as for AC it can be found on Steam for $10 on regular price.

Honestly this isn't a good deal, even by considering the sale. DRM-free and bonus material don't justify everything.
Check your facts. Assassin's Creed is on Steam for 19.99$

http://www.steamprices.com/us/app/15100/assassins-creed-directors-cut-edition

Also, being on sale even 100 times is irrevelant, as 19.99$ for AC1 or HOMMV is regular price, and it's the same over most DD stores. GOG won't be selling games for much lower prices. Because it's not their choice.

Retail is also irrevelat, as it's different way of distribution, and in retail, after some time, it's just a matter of clearing the stock to get rid of physical copies which are taking too much place. With DD, it's not a problem, so prices stay higher for a long time, but you get more promo sales instead.

SLP2000: Was it regular price?

Go flame Ubisoft ffs. The GOG customer is not a CheapAssGamer by definition.
AC1 on steam is 19.99$/9.99 euro (price for EU is cheaper - I guess this have something to do with Ubisoft being french)
You can buy all of the AAA titles on Retail cheaper than Steam but you still go to Steam right? Don't compare different prices on different products.

ArbitraryWater: I don't understand how people can dislike Heroes V so much when it cribs so deliberately from Heroes III, to the point where I didn't think it was that great until the second expansion where they added alternate upgrades.
You have said the reason yourself. If I want to play Heroes 3, I'll play it. But why would I want to play Heroes 3 in 3d engine which is badly optimised, has generic setting (even different from the older ones) and pathetic story (Gryffin eternal!!!11!ELEVEN) and user-hostile map editor (which is why many of the famous mapmakers did not bother with it)?
And to have it for 20 bucks, no less.....

Some good ideas don't save this mess.

My mistake I didn't check the US price. AC1 is $20 indeed. (it's ridiculously expensive btw for a 4 years old game but well).

That being said, comparing with retail is relevant is this case, I'm not talking about an old edition being sold again but actually about a recent, official and most importantly DRM-free release (and I'm pretty sure it's not only for Europe).

So i'm not getting it when people start to praise GOG for releasing DRM free products while it has already been done, for cheaper prices, elsewhere, in both retail and digital distribution.
The GOG customer is not a CheapAssGamer by definition.
Well, i dont' want to be rude but he is not either a sucker by definition ;), though many people here seem to like buying and defending such a redundant and expensive release. I actually hope most of customers won't agree to follow up GOG it they keep up with their new pricing policy - it doesn't matter to me whose fault it is, GOG or Ubisoft. The two reasons why i have kept buying on GOG are the pricing and the DRM-free games. If one of thoses reasons disappear, then my interest shall flee quickly.

Add DMoMM to this please. Cause I really appreciate what you're trying to do here, however if this was bundled with DMoMM instead of AC it would already be on my shelf...

I'll just say this you can think about it and then answer me:
For EU customers: 13.05$ for AC1 on steam + 14.25$(£8.99 OST on iTunes)
The OST you don't get with either Amazon/Steam or any other digital seller ;)

You see the diff now?
And this is quite nice to be honest. And don't get started on "free" extras... this OST was never free on other digital seller :)

What I admit is that currently, the digital pricings of those 2 games are quite similar to GOG's offer, if we except special sales. And yeah well of course, if you compare GOG's offer with such a poor deal as game + iTunes soundtrack, no doubt that GOG wins. :) If we go this way, in 5 years, you'll be happy to see Mass Effect 3 on GOG for $60 because the price on Origin will still be $60... ;)

I guess it's possible to find some kind of interest in GOG's offer but for this you really have to compare with very bad deals. We should compare GOG's deal with other real ones.

I compare GOG price with the prices atm,not with the prices 2 weeks ago or on christmas.
For me it deserves it's money just for the OST only...and still you get 2 good games for 20$...so it's not that bad at all. Plus the moment that Ubisoft give the prices...put GOG out of the pissing people way (atleast in my eyes).
Everybody have a POV for me AC1 is welcomed to GOG...

And to make something clear to you i will compare diff things but I know you will get my point: Carfour are selling cheaper then most of the shops...but that is because they are big sharks and they can afford loosing some money on big sales .
Carfour refference is good for Steam too ;)

I agree with you on Carfour example, and I often prefer to buy at equal prices on GOG because they are smaller, and they have (are loosing a bt, but still have :p ) a far better respect of the customer.

But we should also be careful, because GOG is small for now, but it is growing very fast. I really believe there will be one day when GOG will be as big and powerful as Steam. When this time come you may regret not to have expressed your opinion when it still had importance for them :p They have to keep up their strengths.

My whole point is that GOG is still too small to actually can ask for better prices from publishers. But they do their best for now to get us at least good extras to someway equal the price difference. And with AC1... I'm pretty sure Ubisoft made that price cause of US Steam price for it ;)
Glad to see DRM-free Ubi games here. I hope more on way.
To sum up - I'm going ot buy those two games. First, because I want them (never played AC), second - to show Ubisoft they have a reason to release all their games here.

THIS. Keep'em coming Ubisoft. I've missed out on some great games because of your crazy DRM schemes. AC being one of them.

Yep. But not only Ubisoft, I'd like to see other publishers join in on this. : )
