A dreamy platformer with a world-shifting, identity-changing twist.

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, a beautiful platformer that delivers a blast from the past while remaining modern, juicy, and delightfully fresh, is now available on GOG.com for only $13.49! That's 10% off the regular price until Tuesday, October 30.

They say that there's only one way to understand a teenage girl: you have to be one. In case of Giana this can prove to be even more difficult, as there's much more to her than meets the eye. But the same thing can be said about almost every single thing or being inhabiting the dream realm in which the girl is trapped. Have you ever been trapped inside a dream, wanting to wake up? A dream in which every time you thought you broke free you just fell deeper into the recurring delusion? That's what happened to our heroine. But luckily, her predicament allowed her to unleash an alternate, feisty persona and harness the ability to flip from nightmare to a dream and back, just like flipping a coin. That's more than a fair fighting chance against the twisted odds.

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams takes all you love about classic platformers: jumping platforms, stomping on enemies' heads, solving simple puzzles, collecting shiny tokens, and searching for secrets--and puts it in a unique double-vision environment. While the blonde "cute" Giana travels through the dark land of nightmares, her redhead "punky" alter-ego blasts through a much lighter and cheerful dream realm. The player is given the ability to dynamically switch between the two worlds and characters at will, using both personas' unique skills and taking advantage of each world's slightly different layout. It's like playing two games at once (which in most cases doesn't make much sense apart from being a nice party trick; but here, it makes for a challenging and original gameplay).

Make yourself a nice pot of strong coffee, cause you're not getting any sleep tonight, while you run and jump through the fantastic realms of a teenage girl's fancy in Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, for only $13.49.

F4LL0UT: It was not a 1:1 clone. Multiple mechanics and enemies work in a different manner, the levels are different etc.. I'm really shocked that even people who actually liked Giana Sisters fail to notice that.
In my case, it's probably because I've always loathed Mario with all my heart, and so haven't paid all that much attention to the Mario games.

Have you seen the 90's Mario Movie?

Nope. Why would I watch a movie adaptation of a game I detest?

Looking at screenshots of the original Super Mario Bros just now, I see that you are correct. It's definitely not a 1:1 clone, but equally definitely a conscious effort at copying that specific game.

I thought you might say that. You'd love it, because it makes mario look like a complete joke :D

It's nothing like the games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtMZKYnLg5c

Me too. I was frequently bludgeoned for being bad as a child with a Super Mario Bros 3 cartridge. My parents tethered the game to a long piece of twine, readied the potato canon, and made me run around the yard for daily evenings of "dodge the Nintendo tape."

Now, I'm 29, hugely muscular, exceedingly wealthy, and parents are terrified of me (which is always good for a laugh - you should see it when I make them flinch, lol).

Actually, not a word of any of that is true...

I actually like the 90's Mario movie. For me, it's in the same vein and fills the same niche as the highly rated superhero blockbusters. It's kind of surprising to me that it's considered an iconic bad movie.
"The cartoonish nightmares of her childhood amuse her now, and she mocks them, lightly twirling over ghosts and demons. On the other hand, the bright lollipop dreams she used to love so much annoy her to no end, making her want to smash things, be it a brick wall or a fuzzy little bunny."

That sounds awesome.

F4LL0UT: I heard two of the original devs pronounce it like "giant" so I'm sticking to that one.
Chris Hülsbeck pronounced it "Jana" (as in a soft G, not like the German/Polish "yana") when I briefly spoke to him at gamescom this year.

Kinda got me because I'd been pronouncing it with a hard G "gee-ana" all my life.

I want to get it just because the price is 1349

That and I love 2D platformers. The original Mario game and it's GBC remake is one of my all time favorites.
Wow, it got updated while I was downloading it. That's the fastest patch release I've ever seen :o)

For info: it went from 1.1.0.3 to 1.1.0.7

That's funny, I'm positive that he said "Dschajena" when I briefly spoke to him at the Quo Vadis last year. I really need to pick up that recording. <.<

Already bought this from Kickstarter, nice game and a great soundtrack by Chris and company. Well done to all involved and well done GOG for bringing it here. Such a great main theme by Chris.

Yeah, pretty much like that.
