Everybody was Kung Fu fighting!

Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf, an oriental-themed RTS where true power can only be earned, not taken, is now available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Sit by the fire, young nobleman, and help yourself to a goblet of jasmine tea. You are wise to come here. So many warriors before you attempted to unite this realm under their reign. They were brave and strong. They had the noble knowledge of tactics. They knew how to choose the best steel for swords. They had fists that could punch holes through stone walls. They had eyes that could spot a sneaking ninja in the middle of a cloudy night. They had hearts that knew no fear nor remorse. But none of them came to seek advice of an old man living on the mountain. And--one by one--they failed. Their power crumbled, their dreams vanished, and they lives faded. You are wise to come here, young nobleman. But this is only your first step towards the true wisdom and the true power that only comes with balance. I will teach you. But now, finish your tea and bring us some water from the spring.

Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf is a game defined by its setting--an RTS that combines resource management, unit development, and tactical gameplay with storytelling inspired by the Kung Fu movies and oriental culture. Follow the story of a young nobleman Kenji, heir to the Dragon throne, who was exiled from his homeland and now seeks a way to regain his heritage. With unique units and many original ideas Battle Realms is a game that no RTS fan can afford to miss.

Choose your path with caution and let yourself be guided by the ancient wisdom of Zen in Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf, for only $9.99!

SimonG: The game was made by the original creators of C&C!

F4LL0UT: Not by the original creators of C&C but by some original creators. I believe most C&C veterans can be found in Petroglyph.
Well, Ed Del Castillo was pretty much the head behind C&C and he is also the head behind Liquid entertainment.

Petroglyph got the people who designed the later C&C games. But I would call Castillo the creative head behind the success of the first C&C.
Never knew there was an addon, but the main game is certainly great!
I remember this game with fondness. Great release, GoG!
Looks interesting. Maybe once the backlog is bit smaller.
You managed to pleasantly surprise me there -- I didn't even remember this game existed, even though I loved it back in the day.

Excellent addition, truly a Good old Game.
Fantastic! I never got to try out the expansion back in the olden times. Something to look forward to.
Nice job GOG, that expansion was almost impossible to find at any time.

Actually Petroglyph has people who have even been involved in Dune 2 (I haven't checked names but their homepage says so)... and despite what the Wiki article says: Castillo is only credited for "producing" C&C. I don't know what his exact role was since every company had its own definition for "producer" in those times but one would assume that Castillo would also be credited for concept or design or story or something if he had been indeed such a magnificent creative force behind the game.
Ah, I see this has a single-player skirmish mode on top of the missions. Consider me sold on getting this game as I see it also has some good online reviews. :)
Had good times with this back when it was first released. It was nice to play this type of game in a different setting. Definite wishlist material.
Never heard of it, but it's probably because my country was plainly ignored by whatever company distributed it back then. Now Gog's description and all these positive reviews got me curious. Wishlisted.
Just tried it in Wineskin (with WINE 1.5.12) and it works great on my bottom-of-the-barrel MacBook (OS X 10.6.8, GMA 950).

I wish I could find a way to play it in widescreen though; sadly, what I've seen seems to indicate that it's locked at standard 4:3 screen resolutions.
Just bought this and Winter of the Wolf is so hard to find I never had a chance to play it back in the day.

My question is, did they fix the control+D+D cheat in winter of the wolf or in this version? and is it possible to play LAN and how do I do it? Would want to play with my brother and was worried we would face the same problem like we did in trying to play red alert 2
I've been wanting to play an RTS for quite some time now. This one looks very interesting.
awesome.loved this game from my younger days :).wishlisted
