Plentiful by any definition!

Agarest: Generations of War - Collector's Edition, a fantastic kawaii tactical RPG coming with a full soundtrack, digital artbook, and more sweet, sweet bonus content, is available 50% off, DRM-free on GOG.com. With such a discount we don't see a good reason to pass on the collector's version, and get the cheaper regular edition, but if you make that call remember that you can always go for an upgrade later. The -50% discount for all three items (collectors edition, standard edition, and collector's edition upgrade) lasts until Monday, December 8, at 10:59AM GMT.

Agarest: Generations of War - Collector's Edition includes many unique features that cannot be found in any other Strategy Role Playing Game. It takes place across 5 generations of heroes, starting with your first character, Leonhardt. During each generation you will build relationships with 3 different female party members, and at the end of each generation's story arc you must choose to marry one of the girls. Unite with your chosen heroine and use the “Soul Breed” system to shape the fate of the next generation of heroes. Build your ultimate army of warriors and master Extra Skills, Special Arts and Over Kills to defeat colossal enemies! Choose the path of Darkness or Light through a truly epic story, spanning multiple generations, and battle hundreds of different creatures using an array of character abilities, in a compelling and innovative turn-based combat system.

adaliabooks: Yet another reason why I love GoG :)

I know some people aren't fond of the curated store approach, but I would much rather these pointless DLCs weren't included.

On top of anything else it means the Devs won't get any money from they're sale (here anyway) and might be persuaded to stop bothering with such rubbish in the future. It's not likely I know, but worth a try.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. These aren't additional content, these are cheats. We used to get these things for free, now if you want them you are expected to pay?

I can't see why anyone would want to support that concept. Why not be charged extra for the option to change your graphics settings, or configure your controls?

I'm not much of a fan of DLC at all, but if people want to pay for extra maps or even costumes for characters that's up to them. But if we're going to start paying for things that we should get for free than I think that's wrong, and I'm glad that GoG at least are taking a stand.

I remember when GOG stood for Good Old Games.

Recently, they got rid of "Old" and I was like, ok, they want to compete with other retailers like Humble Bundle at the risk of their entity, fine, doesn't hurt me personally, I'll just keep buying the old stuff which is why I'm here.

Then they got rid of "Games" filling up the store with movies of dubious quality that no one in their right mind will buy. Still acceptable, I suppose. Let them branch into more markets.

Now they got rid of "Good". Agarest on GOG. Described as "fantastic" and "kawaii". I have less and less reasons to buy things on GOG these days because their unique deal, old DRM-free games, are showing up on other places and, every time I visit the storefront I am faced with too many things I have no interest in buying. You can't even say anymore you are picking good indies, because Agarest is as far as "good" or "indie" would go. It's just garbage.

I imagine from now on things will only get worse, not better, and it is a sad day for people like me who were enthusiastic about your little company.
Tactical RPG's are not my bag, but I'm always glad to see more Japanese games around here.
If DLCs are indeed only some stat increases , cheats and things you can normally unlock in the game, then surely I am happy with GOG's decision. I am also thinking about buying this stuff, I have a soft spot in my heart for a cute japanese anime/manga style. :)

I'm also glad about more Japanese or Japanese-style games coming to GOG. :-)
I already bought Long Live The Queen, Trails in the Sky and Hatoful Boyfriend. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to resist Agarest for long.
This kind of additions to the GOG catalogue aren't good for my budget.

That's one of the things I didn't like about games in the Agarest saga and made me abandon the series altogether, without the DLC purchases, you need to grind for months before having a chance at some "normal" missions, in fact, without the DLC, it's pretty much impossible to get the best ending in Agarest 1.

i am not happy with the no dlc decision give the agarest devs a break they just jumped on to the pc platform recently and did not know how the dlc stuff is taken in by fans here . They have explained their position on steam.

I think restricting any content just based on assumption is a poor decision . Leave the option of buying the dlc for this game to the gog customers themselves if they bought the game and want to support it more or want to make things easier in the game by buying the dlc let them do so.

This reminds of the train simulator series on steam and its dlc , they made a good game and hence tied up with real train companies to release more trains and dlc and there is a lot like upto 2000$ in dlc for the game but its not forced upon.

a) you can buy any dlc you want
b) they freely upgrade you to every new train simulator year release they make
c) your previous dlc purchases are carried over.

Speaking my experience from being on steam and consoles for a long time. No matter what game you release or how many dlcs you release. There is always someone who loves that platform so much that they will buy everything without any complaints.

Limiting the content makes no sense. Dont let the collectors down specially those dedicated ones on gog.

here is their word on the dlc

^ Uh oh, this seems an important issue.
Also, I hate pay2win games : \
Looks quite cool.
I voted it for Saturday twitch stream before as it interested me.
I am sorry it lost.
Just to sound-off on the DLC debate; I think GOG made the right call.

Why pay to unlock something when you can just earn it by playing the game? I mean, isn't that the whole point of playing a game? If you just want to zip through it with minimal effort, they why not just watch a Let's Play online for free?
I think the decision to not release the DLCs here was a good one. GOG always was a curated store and these DLCs (additional stats, items and cheats) are among the worst I've ever seen.

Yes, the thing is, the best endings are tied to timed events, as in, you need to complete a certain event in a number of game days. And how do you do that? Well, you need to be pretty strong to beat all the encounters one after another before that, but if you are not strong enough what do you do? You have to grind, and grinding takes time.

So, by the time you level up in power, the event is already gone! This means that you would need to wait until New Game+ (and it's a pretty long game) to finish those events, and your first run is ruined by that if you like to get the good ending on the first try, because most endings beside the best one end up somewhat in tragedy.

So, it doesn't mean that the game is completely ruined without DLC, but it means that you will be forced to spend a lot, and a I mean a lot of time mindlessly grinding away, and finishing it twice before getting the good ending.
My opinion about the DLC:
I personally don't mind it not being sold on GOG, it seems like the kind of rip-off DLC I wouldn't want to see promoted.

Will we be seeing more LucasArts games on GOG soon? :) Maybe around Xmas?
