If you're deciding between Red Faction 1 or 2, get 2. It's much less mediocre, and it will get on your nerves a lot less. Personally, I wouldn't get either, as I hate the series, but I understand some people really enjoyed those games, so feel free to do what you like.
In fact, I don't really like any of the games that developer puts out. Saint's Row had the humor level of 12-year-olds who had just discovered that porn, drugs and guns exist, and the visuals had this very bland look to them. I do thank them for introducing the turn-by-turn GPS into open-world games, though. That was a life-saver in GTA IV.

bansama: Also seeing the note on the store page about DX10 cards and the game not working, is also putting me off. No point in buying a game if there is a good chance it won't work on my 9600.

Hehe, that's due to a bug in the VRAM detection routine in the main .exe - runs fine after a simple 1-byte patch. Whether you really *want* it to work is another question entirely...

Heh, true. I loved the original Red Faction, but I was surprisingly disappointed by RF2. Which is rather peculiar, considering how many run of the mill, low rated FPSs I can't put down after starting them.
But I pre-ordered Red Faction Guerrilla on Impulse several weeks ago.
