Yeah, it being the keyboard is probably good, especially if it's still in warranty. Saves you from having to make an expensive repair to your pc.

Be glad it wasn't a very important key: my A key broke and barely registered keystrokes on my laptop's keyboard. Too much use of WASD, probably :) I had to buy an external keyboard, which I'm currently using.

As a temporary measure I edited the registry to remap the print screen button to scroll lock. Thank goodness for useless keys! Here's the reg I used (for a UK keyboard and it needs a restart to take effect): Apparently you can use KeyTweak to have a GUI for thins, but I didn't bother, I did consider using AutoHotKey to remap but I'm a bit anal about having programs running in the background.

I'll probably get a new one but it won't cost just £10. Oh sure that's the monetary value but there's more to buying physical goods than just money. See I could buy it in two ways...

I could go to the shop. This is simple once you fight your way through the traffic and crowds and actually manage to get to the shop right? RIGHT? I wish. No I don't want to buy £1,000 insurance for a £10 keyboard. No I don't want your super saver deal because despite what you call it it'll cost me more than just buying the keyboard. I JUST WANT TO BUY THE BLOODY KEYBOARD.

So why not buy online? That's simple right? RIGHT? I wish. You see it then has to be delivered. This means that when I'm on the toilet, taking a dump, with my trousers around my ankles some delivery person (who doesn't understand what their job is) will ring the doorbell and run away as quick as they can. This means I have to immediately jump up, race through the door and run after them before they reach their van. Then once you've rugby tackled her to the ground you have to hope the keyboard isn't damaged. Also some people start talking crazy things about "pressing charges", "getting the help you need" and "get the fuck off me and pull your trousers up you bastard", etc.

So you see it's so much agro that I like to avoid these situations for as long as possible.

Oh.
I just walk down to one of several stores nearby (alright, so it's half an hour one way into the centre of town, or I could take a detour from work... anyway), grab a keyboard, pay the cashier the stated amount, walk home.
