This is NOT the Mushroom Kingdom!

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is a beautiful platformer loosely based on a 1980s classic, with colorful storybook graphics, diverse locations, solid mechanics, and some original twists--and you can pre-order it on GOG.com right now, for 25% off! That's only $11.24 until next Tuesday, October 23, when the game is released.

In the 8-bit era, way back in 1987, a renegade game emerged on Commodore 64, instantly gathering a slew of fans and raising many legal issues. The Great Giana Sisters were only a pair of mustaches short of being the Super Mario Brothers. Controversy aside, the game delivered a solid gameplay experience, an original backstory, and an extraordinarily well-made soundtrack--it was as far from being a blatant rip-off as a "heavily inspired" game could get. 25 years and some nearly forgotten official and unofficial sequels later, the Giana is ready to return!

Giana Sisters: The Twisted Dreams bring back everything the gamers loved about its 8-bit predecessor in a very modern-looking platformer. The game features colorful "2,5D" graphics that breathe life and magic into the many carefully-designed stages. Once again, Giana sets off on a quest to gather mystical crystals that can help her escape the twisted dream realm. But this time, she has the ability to flip through her dreams and quickly switch between the alternate versions of herself. Both her regular self and her punky "sister" have some unique abilities and traverse a slightly different version of the game's stages.

Explore the fantastic realms full of gems to collect, puzzles to solve, and baddies to stomp upon in Giana Sisters: The Twisted Dreams, for the pre-release price of only $11.24!

ambient_orange: Why exactly this game needed kickstarter if its already almost done?

Scroll down. There's a big "Why Crowdfund?" section.
You're killing me GOG, sucked into buying another release

They needed an additional 150K to finish the game. I have to say it looks pretty damn sweet.
This looks like a fun game.. I've wishlisted it.

Ubivis: The Soundtrack was exclusively to higher Backer Tiers. I think it would be unfair to the people who spent more than twice the price on GOG to have the soundtrack just to see, that others will get it for free for a much lesser price. I would say, just wait... maybe it will be added at some point later (weeks, months, years)

Woolytoes: Sure, but I'm not asking to get it for free. I'm asking for the possibility to BUY it on GOG at all. Same price as the backers? No problem!
Agreed
Woud even be willing to pay a bit more, the soundtrack is just that great.

Instant Preorder.
Money conversions is fun.

It is now also on GG for -25% = £ 8.99 (list price £11.99)

Gog -25% = $11.24 / £7.01 (List price $14.99 / £ 9.35)
Rock Paper Shotgun introduced me to this game. Sadly couldn't back the KS. But will buy DRM free version from here instead of Steam.
Glad to see this game here, I really liked the demo but sadly I somehow managed to miss the Kickstarter campaign.
Lurk more in the KS thread guys :P
This does look nice -those level transitions are like nothing I've ever seen in a game before. If the controls are solid and there is enough actual game in there (levels).. then this could be very good indeed.

Oh dear - just played the demo and now i'm going to have to buy it:) - Even better than I hoped.

Pre-ordered!

After all these frigging years: In your face, Nintendo! =)
Gorgeous looking game. Had backed on KS but forgot to upgrade to get the soundtrack :/. Might as well pre order on Gog as well....( the track that comes with it sounds pretty good if trailer is anything to go by).
Feels like it was just yesterday that the Kickstarter ended. I didn't know they were that close to release.
I like to occasional platformer, but it's something I've come to worry about these days. When they say, "Challenging, yet fair", exactly how "fair" are we talking about?

Like.. Super Mario World fair (pretty fair), Donkey Kong Country Returns (vaguely fair), or Crash Bandicoot (not fair at all). That's really what'd cause me to consider it, because I don't have time anymore for games that claim fairness and are actually unforgiving as all hell.

Also, I didn't see anything that might indicate number of hits left, don't tell me this is "one hit and you're dead" cause that'll instantly stop me from getting it.

EDIT: (hate editing now..) I wanted to say that visually it's a stunning game and the music sounds pretty good. All I'm concerned with here is the actual gameplay as a make or break on the deal-o-tron.

demo

If you die, you respawn at the nearest checkpoint (think Sonic the Hedgehog's balloon). I didn't notice if there was a limited number of times you could die, but you die in one hit.

-edit- Just to clarify, having played the full game, you die in one hit, but you can take an additional hit if you get the shield powerup.
