This is NOT the Mushroom Kingdom!

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is a beautiful platformer loosely based on a 1980s classic, with colorful storybook graphics, diverse locations, solid mechanics, and some original twists--and you can pre-order it on GOG.com right now, for 25% off! That's only $11.24 until next Tuesday, October 23, when the game is released.

In the 8-bit era, way back in 1987, a renegade game emerged on Commodore 64, instantly gathering a slew of fans and raising many legal issues. The Great Giana Sisters were only a pair of mustaches short of being the Super Mario Brothers. Controversy aside, the game delivered a solid gameplay experience, an original backstory, and an extraordinarily well-made soundtrack--it was as far from being a blatant rip-off as a "heavily inspired" game could get. 25 years and some nearly forgotten official and unofficial sequels later, the Giana is ready to return!

Giana Sisters: The Twisted Dreams bring back everything the gamers loved about its 8-bit predecessor in a very modern-looking platformer. The game features colorful "2,5D" graphics that breathe life and magic into the many carefully-designed stages. Once again, Giana sets off on a quest to gather mystical crystals that can help her escape the twisted dream realm. But this time, she has the ability to flip through her dreams and quickly switch between the alternate versions of herself. Both her regular self and her punky "sister" have some unique abilities and traverse a slightly different version of the game's stages.

Explore the fantastic realms full of gems to collect, puzzles to solve, and baddies to stomp upon in Giana Sisters: The Twisted Dreams, for the pre-release price of only $11.24!
Already backed "Project Giana" some weeks ago. Hardly can wait for the 23. october - the sneak peek I received as a backer was absolutely fantastic and made lust for more. An awesome game!

Tried the demo they had on their Kickstarter page, which was quite fun actually. Didn't pledge though, so this is nice. The more platformers, the merrier. This one definitely looks to be one of the better ones. :)

Beautiful game + classic platform = :D
This makes me strangely happy. I enjoyed Giana Sisters on the C64 so many years ago...
I like the music. I wish I had more time for all these games!!!
Looks like a nice platformer! beautiful!
This went from 'wait and see' to 'preorder' the moment I found out Chris Hülsbeck was on board.

Having pre-ordered the game and soundtrack at Kickstarter, would it be possible for me to associate that purchase with GOG's distribution service? I would like to keep everything in one place if possible.
It would be really nice if the original C64 game were included as an extra.
In fact it would be really nice if GOG starts to sell C64 games.
Heh, I had never heard of the Giana Sisters before and it's amusing now how close it looked like Mario.

The graphics of the new game are impressive, Donkey Kong or Mario Wii-grade, judging by the screenshots.

Too much of a hassle, first they would need the rights to use C64 emulation which uses c64 roms which would require them to have perimssion from Commodore or whatever is pretending to be Commodore. Then you have the games most of which are in even worse IP/licensing purgatory then most Dos/Windows titles. Needless to say will not happen
Despite the voice in the back of my head screaming "No! You have too many games already!" this looked too damn good to pass. Head voices are always saying bad things anyway. :)

I'm not an avid platformer, but graphics look nice, the description is interesting and this original twist of switching how you see the world and how your powers work piqued my curiosity. I'll get it, eventually.

so yeah back when we were making this for the GBA (some friends and I, nothing professional,) I took the original c64 game and reverse engineered the thing so we could have all the levels.

The way they created all the levels and packed them into memory on the c64 was absolutely brilliant, and, to this day I still think I should make an editor for those levels (:

That said: obviously I love this game, and have all the incarnations, and was thrilled to back it on Kickstarter, and encourage everyone to play this game. The music in the original was brilliant, the music in this version is brilliant, and Machinae Supremacy's cover is brilliant, and... and...

So yes. BUY THIS GAME (:
