Looks interesting enough to me, I'm in for $115 now that I have an internationally viable card.

I've got to admit that this does sound very intriguing and probably the kind of thing I'd really like.

If they put the original on GOG then maybe they could use that revenue to bring down the lofty target a bit? That's a lot of money for a remake of a game that nobody remembers from a guy who doesn't exactly seem to have been a prominent figure in the industry.

In short, they don't have the clout necessary to make this happen by themselves.

This is a game that I would gladly pledge for...would it not be for the fact that everyone and their grandmother is now kickstarting their projects, making funds run even drier than with GOG promos. I think their timing is piss poor. They should had waited another month or so, start a promo campaign well before they applied at Kickstarter. Look at Wasteland 2 or the Banner Saga, both had a certain hype already built up. Especially the latter, with no big name like Brian Fargo behind it, but they certainly managed to catch a lot of interest before kickstarting.

They just announced that Terri Brosius (who played SHODAN in System Shock 2) will do voice-acting in the game (if the game gets made at all, that is).

If she's got a Twitter account then it would be a good way of making sure that this is legit.

Do we have reason to believe that it isn't?

Some guys come out of the blue and ask for damn near a million dollars and all they've got to show for themselves is a game that's only 6 years younger than me. I'd call that reason.

Where is their industry clout they'd stand to lose? What's to stop them buggering off to another of Thailand's beach? How do we know they intend to do this beyond that they say they will?

Don't get me wrong. It's probably legit. But 'probably' isn't good enough for me. We've seen enough fraudsters using Kickstarter already.

WTF, project will get rebooted!

Let's see if they now come to their senses, and demand $1,800,000.

Are you trying to tell me that a new kickstarter project with a revised funding requirement was made for this particular project? Because it is not at all obvious from the thread itself.

That generally means starting again... <.<

Anyway yeah, they've cancelled the current kickstarter and submitted a new one with a lower target and longer time.
