By "securom", he actually means the disc check. Not the activation-model.
Sands definitely had one of the disc-checks (I think Securom, could be Safedisc. No real difference back then)
Pretty sure Warrior Within also used one of those
I know for a fact that Two Thrones used Starforce, and one of the more effective versions.
But no idea on the re-release.
SecuROM actually has many modes of protection, the online activation thing is a fairly recent addition, but even when they don't use it they now use a crapton of tricks just like StarForce. If you hated StarForce there's no reason not to hate SecuROM in any protection mode, since around the time Bioshock was released, it installs really hard to remove crap on your machine.
