Reputation based removal? AKA, "Not many people downloaded this file, so I assume it's malware"?
What kind of detection did it give you?

Outcast 1.1 removed by Norton.

Norton removed by user.
"I am Jack's complete lack of surprise."

I had Norton.

It flagged itself and immediately removed itself.

Norton: More harmful to your computer than most of the viruses it fails to detect.

It shouldn't happen in the new version that we'll hopefully receive next week (devs said that they already submitted an update to GOG). Somebody mentioned that it's probably caused by debugging stuff accidentally left in the game.

That's probably the only time since its invention that Norton correctly identified a threat...

That's what happens when you use a crappy antivirus like Norton. You get false positives and stupid behavior.

And took the proper action.

Norton and MacAfee: The only two programs that come pre-installed that are guaranteed to be removed as soon as I first power up a new computer. (If I want non-functional, bloated, "anti-virus" spyware that doesn't come out, I'll pick it up myself via my bad browsing habits, thanks.)

That's the most helpful thing Norton Antivirus has ever done for a user :-D
I had the pre-installed version of McAfee in my laptop do the same today. It said the game exe file had a trojan in it.

I fixed the problem by removing McAfee. :P

Though I had to reinstall the game afterwards.
